SITUATION
The customer sees various check control warnings of 'Drive Fault', along with windows, doors, and seats
that do not function.
There may be restraint system check control warnings.
The entire K-CAN9 / Body3 CAN bus may not communicate.
Various fault memory entries for the above-mentioned components may be stored:
930D86 - Function restraint system driver restricted.
930D87 - Function front passenger restraint system restricted.
C9544D, C9544F - Message Missing
C95452, C95454 - Signal invalid
035BF4, 035BFB, 035BFC, 035BFD - Communication via Body3_CAN corrupt.

CAUSE
The screw-drive of the driver’s front seat up/down adjustment may chafe the seat wiring harness depending
upon seat height that is set.

CORRECTION
Install a plastic cable strap to hold the seat harness to the seat frame assembly to prevent contact.

PROCEDURE
Move the driver’s seat to its highest position to obtain maximum clearance under the seat.
Check the harness under the driver’s seat near the end of the screw drive for up/down adjustment, to
observe if it is being chafed when the seat moves.
Repair or replace the harness as needed and secure it with an additional cable strap during installation.
See the following photo (image is showing seat frame assembly from above with seat covering material
removed).
You DO NOT need to remove the seat cover, nor remove seat from vehicle to secure the harness.

NOTE: Both when replacing and working in the area of the seat wiring harness, make sure that the
seat wiring harness is correctly secured, is not pinched; and is not in contact with any sharp edges.

BMW Group’s AIR Application Resource for Flat Rate Labor Operation Codes
To obtain the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance information from the BMW Group AIR application
resource, start by entering the the Chassis Number (last seven (7) characters of the VIN), and click on the
“Search” icon. If the “Vehicle Selection” window displays two or more model possible vehicle choices, select
the applicable Model, or enter the full VIN (17 characters) instead to proceed. Click on the “Flat Rate Units”
button and enter a flat rate labor operation code number “without spaces” in the field to the right, click on the
“Search” icon to display the corresponding listing of “Flat rate unit group details” that are available and their
corresponding FRU allowances.
