Purpose
This document outlines the procedure for measuring standoff lengths needed prior to ordering a bimini
kit—2020002226 (Silver) and 2020002227 (Black)—to match the standoff with the preferred bimini kit.
NOTE: Images used in this document are for reference only when assembling, installing and/or operating
this product. Actual appearance of provided and/or purchased parts and assemblies may differ.

This manual provides general instructions. Many variables can change the circumstances of the instructions,
i.e, the degree of difficulty, operation and ability of the individual performing the instructions. This
manual cannot begin to plot out instructions for every possibility, but provides the general instructions,

Preparation for Ordering
There are three basic configurations for pontoon boat railings.
+ Flat (Fig. 1)
+ Raised (Fig. 2)
+ Tapered (Fig. 3)
Flat railings remain even and level as the framework wraps around the boat's deck.
Raised railings are a small segment of railing mounted atop a basic flat railing, normally located even with or
slightly behind the helm.
Tapered railings are mostly flat railings until they reach the stern/aft of the boat, where they begin to taper
downward until they terminate at the boat's deck.

Replacement Standoff
If replacing an existing damaged or missing standoff, do one of the following:
1. Measure the length of the other standoff, note its color—silver or black.
2. Go to https://support.|ci1.com/sureshade-power-bimini and open the Product Components
document to identify the standoff's part number and use the gathered information to order the
replacement standoff.

New Standoff
If ordering a new standoff to match a SureShade Power Bimini Rear Frame Assembly, do as follows:
1. Identify the style of railing installed on the pontoon. See figures 1-3.
2. If measuring from a flat railing (Fig. 1), the standard 5" standoff is the part to order. Note the rear frame
assembly's color to order the standoff in that same color.
3. If measuring from a raised railing (Fig. 2), go to the Raised Railing Measurement section to determine
the length of standoff needed.
4. If measuring from a tapered railing (Fig. 3), go to the Tapered Railing Measurement section to
determine the length of standoff needed.
Raised Railing Measurement
Do NOT position the rear strut assembly at or below level. Positioning the rear strut assembly at or below
level can cause damage to the actuator, rendering it inoperable.
1. Position the standoff H-bracket a 1/2" minimum from the mounted rear strut assembly's
H-bracket (Fig. 4).
NOTE: Positioning the standoff H-bracket further away from the rear frame assembly's H-bracket lowers the
rear strut assembly. Make sure that when positioning the standoff H-bracket further out (towards
the aft) the lower rear strut assembly and installed bimini top does not interfere with any rear
seating, outboard motors or other fixed items located in the stern of the boat.
2. When positioning the standoff H-bracket further aft, make sure the standoff will rest on a flat, level and
straight section of the railing.
NOTE: Do not position the standoff H-bracket any further aft than 33" from the rear strut assembly
H-bracket or beyond the straight length of the railing.
3. Lower the rear strut assembly until it is approximately 10 degrees from the top of the flat railing (Fig. 4).
Use the angular template (Fig. 7) to adjust the angle and height of the rear strut assembly.
4. Make sure the standoff H-bracket is positioned along the rear strut at least 1 1/2" from where the raised
railing terminates into the flat railing (Fig. 4) ensure the standoff will rest on a flat surface.
NOTE: When the strut assembly is fully closed and in its stored position, the standoff must rest squarely on
a flat, straight surface of the railing.
5. — After the standoff H-bracket has been properly positioned, measure the vertical distance from the
center of the bracket's pivot hole to the top of the flat railing (Fig. 4, Dim A).
A. Enter that number in the space of the following equation.
B. Add 1 1/4" to the measured dimension.
C. Enter the sum in the box. The result will be the approximated length of the standoff to order for
the kit.

6. Goto the Standoff Ordering Chart.
A. Enter the calculated length into the Dimension A column.
B. Look down the Size column to find the first length longer than the calculated length recorded in
the Dimension A column.
Cc. The number across from the identified size (step B) in the Part Number column will be the part
to order.

Tapered Railing Measurement
Do NOT position the rear strut assembly at or below level. Positioning the rear strut assembly at or
below level can cause damage to the actuator, rendering it inoperable.
The length of available flat railing space will have an impact
on the placement of the standoff and its length.
Rear Strut-to-Tapered Railing (Fig. 5)
1. Position the standoff H-bracket a 1/2" minimum from the mounted rear strut assembly's
H-bracket (Fig. 5).
NOTE: Positioning the standoff H-bracket further away from the rear frame assembly's H-bracket lowers the
rear strut assembly. Make sure that when positioning the standoff H-bracket further out (towards
the aft) the lower rear strut assembly and installed bimini top does not interfere with any rear
seating, outboard motors or other fixed items located in the stern of the boat.
2. When positioning the standoff H-bracket further aft, make sure the standoff will rest on a flat, level and
straight section of the railing.
NOTE: Do not position the standoff H-bracket any further aft than 33" from the rear strut assembly
H-bracket or beyond the straight length of the railing.
