This technical bulletin must be read in its entirety before attempting the software update.
• If software updates or flash campaigns/actions are performed on a vehicle, a charger with at
least 70A charging current MUST be used in order to avoid problems during the updates and
flash campaigns/actions.
• This technical bulletin only applies to the vehicle groups specified above with PR code 8AR.

The customer may complain that the image on the MIB display may appear distorted (see Figures 1 & 2).

This procedure resolves the concern specified above by updating the MIB Display -J685- to the latest
software level 6098.

Software Update Procedure
• Connect the MTRMSP0702 battery maintainer/charger to the vehicle’s 12 volt battery.
• Switch the ignition to the ON position.
• Check the current software level by pressing the rounded square home key on the left side of the
touchscreen menu.
• Select “Settings” on the touchscreen menu.
• Select “System Information” on the touchscreen menu.

If the “Control unit
software” is lower than
6098, proceed with
this Technical Bulletin.
If the “Control unit
software” is greater
than or equal to 6098,
this work procedure
does not apply.

• Connect the ODIS tester to the vehicle’s Data Link Connector (DLC).
• Initiate Guided Fault Finding (GFF) and allow the tester to complete interrogation of all
modules.
• Once interrogation is complete, click on the “Special Functions” tab.
• Select “Adapting software”.
• Select option 2 “SVM via action code”.
• When prompted, enter action code 4F3A.
• Follow all prompts through completion of the test plan.
• Once the test plan is completed, exit GFF.
