400 VOLT HVAC SOFTWARE UPDATE
Retrofit Description:
This procedure updates the HVAC software to the latest version for improved performance.

Procedure
1. Working on the Customer Service Laptop Computer, navigate to the following folder on
the Proterra network. \\bus.local\files\Engineering\Service Bulletins\Service Bulletin Files for
SC-20-138\
2. Copy the entire contents of this folder to a known location on the Computer.
3. Perform the Proterra approved Lockout/Tagout procedure to make the bus safe for work.
4. With the bus powered off, use a Small Screwdriver or the Special Tool shown below to release
the HVAC controller from the overhead panel.

5. Disconnect the Yellow Connector shown on the HVAC Controller.

6. Connect the two connectors on the Programming Cable to the HVAC Controller and to the
connector that was disconnected from the Controller as shown below.
7. Connect the other end of the Programming Cable to the computer using a USB to Serial
adapter.
8. Remove the Lockout/Tagout Devices and turn the main disconnect on.

9. Power the bus on by setting the Master Switch to the on position and pressing the Start Button.

10. Start the Klimalogic Software.
11. Click on the “Device” tab, then click “Flash”.

12. The following dialog box will appear. Pick the correct COM port for your adapter in the dropdown box and click on the “Select” button.

13. The following dialog box will appear. Click the “Open Button” and navigate to the location
where the files for this service campaign were saved.
Note: The correct file name is 04942A26-9531-proterra.mhx.
14. With the file selected, click on the “Automatic Update” button.
15. When the update completes successfully, the message shown in green will be displayed.
16. Click on the “Finished” button and close the Ebersparcher Klimalogic Software.
17. Power down the bus and complete the Proterra approved Lockout/Tagout procedure to make
the bus safe for work.
18. Disconnect the programming cable from the HVAC Controller.
19. Reconnect the HVAC Controller to the bus wiring harness.
20. Reinstall the HVAC Controller into the overhead panel.

21. Remove the Lockout/Tagout devices and power on the bus.
22. Return the bus to service.
