SUBJECT:

BUTTON COVER REPLACEMENT (SA597)

This bulletin provides the procedure to replace the ‘Drive Mode’ button cover on certain 2025MY Carnival
HEV (KA4 HEV) vehicles produced from August 23, 2024 through October 19, 2023, which may exhibit a stuck
or “sticky” ‘Drive Mode’ button operation. Due to variations in ambient temperature, the ‘Drive Mode’ button
cover material may expand or contract, preventing the button from returning to the default position. Follow
the procedure outlined in this publication to replace the ‘Drive Mode’ button cover with a new improved part
on the applicable vehicle. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included in the list of
affected VINs.

 NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the
warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will
require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on KDealer+ (Service → Warranty Coverage → Warranty
Coverage Inquiry → Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service Action reports are
available on KDealer+ (Consumer Affairs → Not Completed Recall → Recall VIN → Select Report),
which includes a list of affected vehicles.

Replacement Procedure:
1.

Disconnect negative (-) 12V battery terminal.

2.

Remove the Floor Console Upper Cover
assembly (A) by referring to “Body (Interior /
Exterior / Electrical) → Floor Console → Floor

Installation” in the applicable Shop Manual on
KGIS.

3a.

Turn the floor console upper cover (A) over
and place over a clean cloth.

3b.

Loosen the eight (8) retaining screws to
remove the cup holder assembly (B).

CAUTION
Do not damage/scratch the console
surface/buttons.

4.

Disconnect the connector to remove/detach
the console extension wiring assembly (C).

Remove the switch assembly (D) by removing
the four (4) retaining screws.

6.

Using a non-marring trim removal tool,
remove/detach the ‘Drive Mode’ button cover
(E) from the switch assembly (D).

7.

Carefully install and secure the new ‘Drive
Mode’ applicable switch cover (E).

8.

Reinstall all removed parts in reverse order of
removal.

9.

Confirm normal operation.
