Introduction
Certain Model Year 2021-2025 Peterbilt chassis require a software update for the Bendix
EC80 ABS ECU.
Electronic noise and/or low signal strength on the Power Line Carrier
(PLC) signal from a trailer to the EC80 ABS ECU could cause the ABS system to
incorrectly process certain signals. This can lead to the EC80 setting faults, malfunctioning, or not operating. ABS faults could affect the operation of other

ABS-connected systems such as Automatic Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and/or Collision Mitigation System. These
faults could cause the ABS system to respond incorrectly to a stability or automated braking event, increasing the risk of a crash.
The ABS warning lamp will be illuminated in the event of faults in the ABS system or when the ABS system stops operating.

119,452 (109,082 US and 10,370 CAN) Model Year 2021-2025 337/348/365/367/389/520/536/537/548/567/579/589 chassis built from 04/06/2020
through 12/06/2024 equipped with Bendix EC80 ABS ECU with Power Line Carrier
(PLC) trailer communication functionality.
Resolution
Safety Recall
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
1. Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the list.
2. In Service Management, select Campaign 24PBL to add it to the case. If the unit is released back into service without performing the repair, make
sure to also release the Campaign in Service Management.
3. If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review SIR for “Complete” next to the 24PBL Campaign code prior to performing this
repair.

It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to sell or lease new vehicles covered by this recall until the defect or noncompliance has been corrected.
Warranty
Starting on 1/10/2025, there is no time or mileage limit for this recall. Peterbilt will pay for labor:
0.3 hours labor to update EC80 ECU software. Use Recommended Repair 24PBL.
For supplemental repairs, file a long form claim and use 24PBL in the "Campaign Code" field.

Peterbilt Motors Company a constaté qu’une défectuosité reliée à la sécurité des véhicules automobiles est présente dans certains châssis
Peterbilt de modèles des années 2021 à 2025, configurés pour le remorquage de remorques et qui ont été fabriqués entre le 06/04/2020
et le 06/12/2024.
Le bruit électronique et/ou la faible intensité du signal du courant porteur sur ligne d’énergie d’une remorque vers le bloc de contrôle
électronique ABS Bendix EC80 peut entraîner un traitement incorrect de certains signaux par le système ABS. Ceci peut faire en sorte
que le bloc de contrôle électronique ABS Bendix EC80 signale des défectuosités, un mal-fonctionnement ou un non-fonctionnement. Les
défectuosités du système ABS peuvent affecter le fonctionnement d’autres systèmes connectés à l’ABS, tels que le régulateur de traction

Peterbilt Motors Company has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Vehicle Model Year 2021-2025 Peterbilt chassis
configured for trailer towing that were manufactured from 04/06/2020 through 12/06/2024.
Electronic noise and/or low signal strength on the Power Line Carrier
(PLC) signal from a trailer to the Bendix EC80 ABS ECU could cause the ABS system
to incorrectly process certain signals. This can lead to the Bendix EC80 ABS ECU setting faults, malfunctioning, or not operating. ABS faults could affect the
operation of other ABS-connected systems such as Automatic Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and/or Collision Mitigation
System.
These faults could cause the ABS system to respond incorrectly to a stability or automated braking event, increasing the risk of a crash. The ABS warning
lamp will be illuminated in the event of faults in the ABS system or when the ABS system stops operating.
What is the problem?
Bendix ABS ECU could incorrectly process signals.
What will your dealer do?
When software and procedures are available, dealers will update Bendix EC80 ABS ECU software.
What should you do?
When software and procedures are available, contact your Peterbilt Dealer to schedule an appointment for repair.
Peterbilt has initiated this recall to remedy the issue at no charge to you. Currently, software and procedures are not yet available to correct this
condition. However, Peterbilt is required to notify customers of the existence of the identified safety defect. You will be notified by mail when the
software and procedures become available.
