IF YOU CONFIRM
Either the left and/or the right Rear Door Rear Sash Cover is loose or missing.
HINT: A loose Rear Door Rear Sash Cover can be lifted at the top/forward corner shown in
Figure 1 with one (1) finger and only a few pounds of effort. The driver (LH) side is shown
in Figure 1. The passenger (RH) side is similar.

ACTION
Replace the affected Rear Door Rear Sash Cover with part listed in the PARTS
INFORMATION.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

HINT: The following Figures will be of the driver (LH) side Rear Door Rear Sash Cover.
The passenger (RH) side Rear Door Rear Sash Cover is similar.

1.

If still present, remove the affected
Rear Door Rear Sash Cover.


Use an appropriate tool (Figure 4)
to remove Rear Door Rear Sash
Cover.

2.

Remove all residual adhesive tape (Figure 5) from the vehicle, as shown in Figure 6.


Use 91% isopropyl alcohol to remove all adhesive tape.

IMPORTANT: All adhesive tape and associated residue MUST be removed.

3.

Remove the clip from the new Rear
Door Rear Sash Cover, and then
install the clip into the door where
shown in Figure 7.


In preparation to install the new Rear Door Rear Sash Cover, clean the areas shown
in Figure 8 with 91% isopropyl alcohol and confirm that all dirt, debris and finger prints
have been removed.


Confirm that ALL isopropyl alcohol has dried before moving to next step.

IMPORTANT: The preparation of all parts and equipment must happen before mixing the
adhesive in the applicator Mixing Nozzle.

Assemble the Manual Applicator (NI-50816A), 3M Dual Cartridge Epoxy and the
Mixing Nozzle (Figure 9 and Figure 10).
a. Remove and discard the red plug from the 3M Dual Cartridge Epoxy by unlocking
the retaining collar.
b. Attach the Mixing Nozzle by sliding the retaining collar over the Mixing Nozzle and
locking the retaining collar onto the 3M Dual Cartridge Epoxy.
c. Place the 3M Dual Cartridge Epoxy with the Mixing Nozzle attached into the
Manual Applicator (NI-50816A).
HINT: DO NOT squeeze the Applicator handle yet.

IMPORTANT: In the next steps the Rear Door Rear Sash Cover MUST be aligned and
completely installed before the adhesive starts to harden.




Please read steps 6-13 before applying adhesive.
Adhesive will start hardening approximately 1 minute after it exits the Mixing
Nozzle. After 3 minutes it will harden.
Mixing Nozzle will begin to clog in 2-3 minutes after mixing has stopped.

Apply a small amount of the adhesive to a scrap piece of cardboard until it appears
that the adhesive exits the Mixing Nozzle and is evenly mixed (Figure 11).

Apply a 6 mm wide, 30 mm long bead of 3M adhesive to the area of the Rear Door
Rear Sash Cover where shown in Figure 12.


8.

IMPORTANT: The Rear Door Rear Sash Cover must be installed immediately
after adhesive is applied. Adhesive will start hardening approximately 1 minute
after it exits the Mixing Nozzle. After 3 minutes it will harden.

Remove three (3) red protective adhesive tape strips from new Rear Door Rear Sash
Cover.

9.

Align the lower Rear Door Rear Sash Cover tab and lower clip to the vehicle door as
shown in Figure 13.

Align the upper Rear Door Rear Sash Cover tab to the sash molding endcap.

11.

Push the Rear Door Rear Sash Cover clip at the bottom to snap it in place.

12.

Push the Rear Door Rear Sash Cover upper clip to snap into place.

13.

Apply consistent, even pressure to the Rear Door Rear Sash Cover for at least 30
seconds.


Using both hands, as shown in Figure 15, apply pressure by leaning at a slight
angle in relation to the vehicle.

14.

Confirm that the double-sided tape
has adhered properly by gently trying
to lift the leading edge of the Rear
Door Rear Sash Cover at the three (3)
points shown in Figure 16, Figure 17
and Figure 18.


15.

Allow the vehicle to sit undisturbed for
1 hour, after the repair has been
completed.

16.

Using the same method as in step 14,
re-confirm that the double-sided tape
has adhered properly.


If excessive movement is observed
please contact your local FQM
(Field Quality Manager) for further
direction.

IMPORTANT: Once the repair is completed,
do not wash the vehicle. It is recommended
that the vehicle should avoid excess sun
(heat) and water exposure as much as
reasonably possible for up to 24 hours as
the tape and adhesive cures.
