Some customers may comment that the roof ditch moldings are not seated flush to the
truck and/or coming loose.
Cause
The causes of the condition may be that the attachment tabs on the roof ditch moldings
are not secured to the body studs.
Correction
While the roof ditch moldings between the WT and the RST/Denali are different, the
repair procedure is similar. If the roof ditch molding does not show signs of visible exterior
damage - it is not necessary to replace it. It can be reused in conjunction with the below
repair procedure.
If the attachment tabs on the ditch molding (where the ditch molding locks in the body
studs) are fractured - the ditch molding can still be reused in conjunction with the repair
procedure below.

Important: This technical service bulletin (TSB) can only be completed by certified repair facilities who have met all
specific training, tool and equipment requirements pertaining to the vehicle Brand and Model serviced. Repairs must
be performed by a technician who has successfully completed the required training.
Work Truck:
1. If a NEW roof ditch molding is installed and after replacement, the molding sits flush to the roof and all molding
mounting clips to the body studs are tight and secure, then no further action is needed.
2. If the existing roof ditch molding that was removed does not show signs or visible exterior damage but does
have fracturing of the mounting clips, then proceed with the outlined service procedure below.

body studs then inspect for signs of fracturing at the mounting points where the molding secures to the body
studs. If any fractures are found proceed with the outlined service procedure below.

4. Using a trim tool, remove the roof ditch molding and place on a flat surface.

5. Clean the roof ditch and apply masking tape along the length of the roof ditch to prevent any adhesive from
spilling over.

6. Then apply the adhesive to the front end ONLY of the roof ditch molding in a 5mm circle and immediately
place in position. Secure that end to the roof with a small amount of pressure for 30 seconds. The adhesive
dries quickly (Aprox. 20 seconds) so be sure to plan the placement and properly align it to the roof.
Note: It’s best to install the front end first for the best appearance and below the windshield lace to prevent wind
noise.

7. Apply adhesive to the other end of the molding in a 5mm circle and immediately place in position and secure to
the roof. Apply a small amount of pressure for 30 seconds while the adhesive cures.
RST/Denali Vehicles:
1. If a NEW roof ditch molding is installed and after replacement, the molding sits flush to the roof and all molding
mounting clips to the body studs are tight and secure, then no further action is needed.

6. For RST/Denali EV, apply adhesive to the front and back of the retention clips on the roof ditch molding in a
5mm circle and immediately place in position. Once installed, apply a small amount of pressure for 30 seconds
to both ends of the roof ditch molding to ensure it is properly secure.
