Cause:
Due to an incorrect specification in the Workshop Manual, it is possible that the screw
connections on the transmission control unit installed as part of the WPJ7 campaign do not
meet the intended specifications in the affected vehicles.
As a result, it cannot be ensured that the screw connections on the transmission control unit will fulfil the
necessary requirements over the service life of the vehicle.
Action:
Replace the screw connection for the transmission control unit.

Reworking screw connection for transmission control unit

Work
Procedure:
•
Aluminium screws must always be replaced.
•
Aluminium screws must be secured using the yield-strength procedure.
•
To ensure that the screws are tightened uniformly, the specified “Light, Medium or Hard”
tightening setting must be used.
•
The threshold torque (initial tightening) must be set on the 9768 - electronic torque wrench
from 2 - 100 Nm (1.5 - 74 ftlb.) when tightening using the yield-strength procedure.

new ones, one after the other.
