Customer states:

The front seat belt is twisted.

Workshop findings:
•

The belt webbing was twisted as it was guided through the guide fitting on the belt height adjuster. The
twisted pulling in of the belt webbing is exacerbated by the “belt parking” function (see SSP 662 A8 (type 4N),
page 69).

This solution can therefore only be fitted on vehicles with reversible front belt tensioners, PR number 7W1, 7W2,
7W3 or 7W4.

Technical Background 1
The belt webbing is slightly twisted when it is guided back after the latch plate is released. When the occupant
leaves the vehicle, there is a twist in the belt webbing at the point before the belt guide fitting on the belt height
adjuster. If the “belt parking” function is then activated, the belt webbing may be twisted all the way around as it is
pulled back into the guide fitting.

Production Solution
Optimized parts implemented starting week 28/2022.

Service
Procedure for Audi A6, A7, A8 and e-tron:
Remove the B-Pillar trim on the affected side as described in the Workshop Manual.
Do NOT remove the seat belt.

guide fitting at the top of
the seat belt (Figure 1,
Pos. 3).
The bolt can be reused,
and the torque can be
found in the current
Workshop Manual.
The new belt guide(s)
4K8 857 799 for the
driver side / 4K8 857
800 for the front
passenger side
(Figure 2, Pos. 4) must
be fitted. Only repair
the side affected by
the complaint.

Refit the belt guide fitting. Secure the bolt on the guide fitting at the top of the seat belt. The bolt can be
reused, and the torque can be found in the current Workshop Manual.
Now pull the seat belt all the way out and check that the belt webbing is retracted easily and
correctly.
Refit the B-Pillar trim.
Procedure for Q8 only:
Replace the affected front seat belt as described in the Workshop Manual. Always order the latest part
index according to the table below for this complaint only. (Color index missing in the table below, add
according to ETKA).
For all other complaints, the old part indexes can also be fitted.
