Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Customer Indicates Rear Air Conditioning Is Blowing Much

Warmer Than Front.

Customer Complaint/Technician Observation: Customer states when turning air

conditioning on the air coming out of vents blows warm in the rear of cabin.

During inspection it was found that the differential between the front vents 52F and the

rear vents 78F is above the 10-degree specification. Further investigation led to

internal inspection of the rear housing. The internal mode doors were binding internal

to the housing due to housing warpage. The doors could only move partial range

preventing full cold from being achieved in the rear of the cabin.

The rear HVAC housing was replaced and the air conditioning in the rear returned to

normal operation blowing within the 10-degree F specification.

If this condition is suspected inspect the rear housing doors for full range of movement.

If it is found to have limited or binding movements remove the rear housing and inspect

door travel for warpage.

If found to be warped replace housing and retest for proper air conditioning operation.
