VSB-06 Vanleigh Ambition Equalizer Replacement

Dear Tiffin Motorhome Dealer,

it has come to our attention that Vanleigh Ambition 5"° wheel RVs were built with a double axle equalizer instead
of a triple axle equalizer.

Tiffin Motorhomes will replace the double axle equalizer with a triple axle equalizer.

Owners will be notified by mail about the technical service bulletin and will be instructed to take their 5" wheel
RV to a reputable service center OR dealer of their choice to have this update completed. Tiffin Motorhomes is.
allowing up to 1.50 hours for the replacement of the equalizers.

Please verify the 5“ wheel RV is involved in this update before beginning the correction. To verify a 5" wheel RVs.

It has come to our attention that Vanieigh Ambition 5" wheel RVs were built with a double axle equalizer instead
of a triple axle equalizer.

Tiffin Motorhomes will replace the double axte equalizer with a triple axle equalizer.

Please take your motorhome to a service center of your choice to have the correction completed. This
replacement should take 1.50 hours or less and will be completed at no charge to you.

jJocations. If you are using a service center that is not a Tiffin Motorhomes authorized repair facility, please make
sure that they contact Tiffin Motorhomes for the required instructions and time allowed for the repair. Tiffin
Motorhomes will not pay over the allowed time unless the repair facility receives prior authorization. For

Technical Service Bulletin VSB-06 Repair Instructions

Models Involved: 2022 and 2023 Vanleigh Ambition 5" wheels RV’s
Purpose: To provide instructions on how to replace the double axle equalizer with a triple axel equalizer.

FLAT RATE CODE & TIME ALLOWED When filing the warranty claim for payment, please use the appropriate flat rate code.
7906SB00 for replacement of incorrect equalizer, 1.50 hours

No authorization is required for work completed at the flat rate times stated on the work instructions. Use “VSBO6” as
the authorization on claim for payment.

Tools Needed: Parts Needed:

Pneumatic Air or Impact Gun 1 of 5164755 Curbside Equalizer
Torque Wrench 1 of 5164756 Roadside Equalizer
11/16” Socket 2 of 5167560 Shoulder Bolt

11/16” Wrench Reference diagram page 4 as needed

7/8” —%” Drive Deep Well Socket
Hamer/Rubber Mallet

Steel Tube

2 Floor Jacks & 2 Jack Stands

Repair instructions
1. Lower leveling jacks and place jack stands under main frame |-beam to ensure unit is

properly supported before performing any work.

2. Remove wheels from front and middle axel. Use floor jacks under the front axle and middle axle
for support.

3. Use 7/8” —%” drive deep well socket to remove front and middle wheels from unit.

Front Equalizer Removal:
4. Starting on one side, use impact wrench with 11/16” socket to remove the 4 nuts from the 2

shackles (shown below) Note: Keep one nut from each side to use with new bolt supplied with
parts kit.

5. Remove shackle bolts from leaf springs and equalizer pivot arms. Note: One shackle will be used
on the new equalizer.

6. Use 11/16” socket to remove equalizer bolt fram hanger. (shown below) Note: Rubber mallet
may be needed to knock bolts loose.

Install new equalizer
7. Note: There is a left hand (LH) and right hand (RH) Equalizer. The fixed arm must always face

toward the rear of the unit,

8. Use 11/16” socket to secure the new equalizer to the hanger with bolts and nuts removed from
the old equalizer. Note: Use a hammer or a piece of steel tube (for bolts with grease fittings) and
drive the equalizer bolt into the hanger. This will seat the serrations of the bolt against the hanger
surface and provide resistance to rotation when tightening. Note: The equalizer bolt must be
installed from the outside in toward the center of the chassis. This ensures the bolt threads do
not interfere with any other assemblies. This applies to bolts with or without grease fittings.

9. Use 11/16” socket to secure fixed arm to rear leaf spring. Note: Use shoulder bolt (5167560) ,
and nut removed from old shackle.
