DESCRIPTION
In the event of a backorder of A/C compressor PN 4158126C1, it may be necessary to use a 2017 X15 A/C compressor
PN 3863068C4 on a 2021 X15 engine. This document will guide the user through modifying the 2017 X15 A/C compressor to
be used on a 2021 X15 engine.
The 2017 Cummins X15 engine uses a compressor that is physically identical to the 2021 Cummins X15 engine compressor,
with the exception of the electrical connector.

REPAIR STEP(s)

1.) Remove the failed A/C compressor from the vehicle. (Reference appropriate service manual for removal instructions.)
2.) Failed compressor: Cut tie strap securing the connector to the compressor body, push back protective sheathing, then cut
the compressor harness 2 inches away from the connector (Figure 1).
3.) Replacement compressor: Cut tie strap securing the connector to the compressor body, push back protective sheathing,
then cut the compressor harness 2 inches away from the connector (Figure 2).
4.) Using the procedure found in IK0800269 - Proper Wire Repair, splice the connector and pigtail from the failed compressor
on to the replacement compressor harness (Figures 3 and 4)

-Be sure to solder this connection. Failure to do so will result in a weak connection.
5.) Position harness sheathing so it covers the wire splices (Figure 5).
6.) Proceed with the installation of the replacement A/C compressor. (Reference appropriate service manual for installation
instructions.)
