Preliminary Steps
1.
Make sure the vehicle is parked and chocked on level ground.
2. Place the vehicle into Accessory or Permanent Accessory.
3. Check the diagnostics page on the infotainment center for any HVAC related faults.
4. On the infotainment screen, find the “Safe Shutdown” section under Settings > SYSTEM.
Note: The Safe Shutdown section appears at the top of the SYSTEM page and will only appear when the
vehicle is in Accessory or Permanent Accessory.
5. Tap ON to select safe shutdown as shown in Figure 1.

6. Press the START/STOP button to shut down the vehicle.
7. While the vehicle’s system is shutting down, the infotainment screen shows a notification that shutdown is in
progress as shown in Figure 2.

8. When the safe shutdown is complete, the infotainment screen will briefly show a confirmation that the MBD can
be turned off as shown in Figure 3.

Risk of damage. Before tilting the radiator and cab, the upper center front bumper trim must be removed.
Failure to follow these instructions may cause vehicle damage.
9. Lift the front grille (1) shown in Figure 4.
10. Locate and twist the two bumper trim (2) clips to the unlock position.
11. Remove the bumper trim (2) from the vehicle and place in a safe place.

Risk of damage. Before tilting the cab, the radiator must be tilted until the cab strap is fully engaged. Failure to
follow these instructions may cause vehicle damage.
12. Locate the radiator release T-handle (3) on the passenger side of the vehicle shown in Figure 5.
13. While holding the radiator (4) pull the T-handle (3).

14. Tilt the radiator (4) down until the cab strap (5) is fully engaged shown in Figure 6.

15. Locate and remove the two caps from the HVAC refrigeration line ports shown in Figure 7.
Recovering refrigerant. Always use an approved refrigerant recovery and recharge machine when
working with refrigerant to prevent accidental discharge. Injury to personnel and/or damage to
components may occur.
16. Use a suitable machine to recover the refrigerant from the HVAC system.
17. Record the amount refrigerant collected.
Note: The amount of refrigerant collected should be 610 ± 30 grams.

18. Tilt the cab until it is in most forward position.
19. Use the manual battery disconnect (MBD) to disconnect the vehicle’s electrical system as shown in Figure 8.

Replacement of HVAC Radiator Fan Sensor (A)
1.
Disconnect the connector on sensor (A) and loosen the sensor then remove it shown in Figure 9.
Risk of damage. Make sure you do not cross thread the sensor when tightening. Damage to components may
occur.
2. Install a new sensor (A) by hand tightening it.
3. Use a torque wrench to torque the sensor (A) to 84.0 ± 4.4 lb-in (9.5 ± 0.5 N·m).

1.
Remove the center skid plate (1) under bottom of the vehicle by removing eight bolts (2), eight washers (3), five
bolts (4), and five washers (5) shown in Figure 10.
2. Remove the left skid plate (6) under bottom of the vehicle by removing seven bolts (7) and seven washers (8).

6. Install the left skid plate (6) under bottom of the vehicle with seven bolts (7) and seven washers (8) shown in
Figure 12.
7. Use a torque wrench to torque the seven bolts (7) to 22.1 ± 2.95 lb-ft (30 ± 4 N·m).
8. Install the center skid plate (1) under bottom of the vehicle with five bolts (4), and five washers (5).
9. Use a torque wrench to torque the five bolts (4) to 22.1 ± 2.95 lb-ft (30 ± 4 N·m).
10. Install eight bolts (2), eight washers (3), on the center skid plate (1).
11. Use a torque wrench to torque the eight bolts (2) to 22.1 ± 2.95 lb-ft (30 ± 4 N·m).

Disconnect the connector on sensors (C) and/or (D) and loosen the sensor, then remove it shown in Figure 13.

occur.
2. Install new sensors (C) and/or (D) by hand tightening it.
3. Use a torque wrench to torque the sensor (C) and/or (D) to 84.0 ± 4.4 lb-in (9.5 ± 0.5 N·m).

1.
Turn the MBD switch to the ON position shown in Figure 14.

2. Tilt the cab back to its original position.
Recharging HVAC system. Always use an approved refrigerant recovery and recharge machine when
working with refrigerant to prevent accidental discharge. Injury to personnel and/or damage to
components may occur.
3. Use a suitable recovery and recharge machine to recharge and leak check the HVAC system as follows:
a. Vacuum the HVAC for five minutes.
b. Do a vacuum and leak check to the HVAC system for 10 minutes.
c. If the HVAC system passes the leak check, continue to step 4. If the HVAC system fails, inspect for other
leak points and restart leak check.
4. Use the recovery and recharge machine to charge the HVAC system with 21.5 oz (610 g) of refrigerant.

5. Push the radiator (1) back until it locks into place shown in Figure 15.

6. Reinstall the bumper trim (2) onto the vehicle shown in Figure 16.
7. Locate and twist the two bumper trim (2) clips to the lock position.
8. Lower the front grille (1) on the vehicle.
