SITUATION
The R 1300 GS Adventure is not delivered with engine protection bars mounted as the bike will not fit in the
crate with the protection bars installed. The trim is not mounted on the protection bars.
The protection bars and trim will continue to be packaged separately up to the third quarter of 2024. After
this time the trim will be mounted on the protection bars and packaged together in the crate.
In individual cases, after installing the trim, the trim may come into contact with the welded seam of the
engine protection bar on the right-hand side in the rear lower driving position (see figure).
PROCEDURE
The engine protection bars must be mounted on the vehicle before delivery to the customer.
The installation is similar to the engine protection bar on the R 1300 GS.

The workshop installation guide for the engine protection bar and the trims can be viewed in AIR under
model code 0M23 (R 1300 GS), Unified Parts Group 77.
If the trim comes into contact with the welded seam of the engine protection bar, establish a gap using the
included washers and longer screws.
Note:
Longer screws (M5x20) and two washers should then always be used for both lower screw points. The
washers must be installed between the engine protection bar and bush (3).
