Over time, saltwater inflow into the Integrated IEB at the IEB fastening bolt hole may cause corrosion and lead to an inoperable IEB motor. Should this occur, the vehicle may experience illumination of the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA
) warning lights, and/or a firmer brake pedal feel. The brakes remain operational. Kia is conducting this service campaign to improve corrosion resistance of the IEB assembly.

This bulletin provides the procedure to inspect the Integrated Electronic Booster (IEB) on certain 2019-2022MY
Niro EV (DE EV) vehicles produced from December 5, 2018 through April 12, 2022, that were originally sold or
are currently registered in one of the 28 states where heavy amounts of road salt are used. Over time,
saltwater inflow into the Integrated IEB at the IEB fastening bolt hole may cause corrosion and lead to an
inoperable IEB motor. Should this occur, the vehicle may experience illumination of the Anti-lock Brake System
(ABS), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) warning lights, and/or a firmer brake pedal feel. The brakes
remain operational. Kia is conducting this service campaign to improve corrosion resistance of the IEB
assembly. Follow the procedure outlined in this publication to inspect the IEB for the related DTC. If the related
DTC (C240527) is stored, replace the IEB with a new one. If the DTC is not stored, apply silicone to the IEB
fastening bolt hole and surrounding area. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included
in the list of affected VINs.

C240527 – Motor Position Sensor
The 28 states where heavy amounts of road salt are used are: AK, CT, DC, DE, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME,
MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SD, UT, VT, WI and WV.
NOTICE

Using a clean shop rag/cloth, thoroughly clean
the IEB cover (B) surface area surrounding the

cover retaining bolt (C).

Apply a coat of silicone by spraying on the bolt
(C) and surrounding area.

Hold the spray can nozzle down for three (3)

seconds and wait ten (10) minutes before

applying a second coat of silicone.

Reinstall the power electric cover (A).
6.
Confirm normal operation.
