Summary
A brake pad mechanical wear indicator is now available as a service part. During the periodic brake pad inspection or when servicing the front or rear brakes, if the outer brake pads are not equipped with a mechanical wear indicator, mechanical wear indicator installation is recommended at the time of inspection or service. Two wear indicators are needed per axle, four per vehicle.

available as a service part. During the periodic brake pad
inspection or when servicing the front or rear brakes, if the outer
brake pads are not equipped with a mechanical wear indicator,
mechanical wear indicator installation is recommended at the time
of inspection or service. Two wear indicators are needed per axle,
four per vehicle.

1. Install two mechanical wear indicators in the depressions
opposite each other on the outer brake pads as shown. Perform
this step on the two front and the two rear outer brake pads.
1. Install the outer brake pads with the wear indicator oriented as
shown.
Note: The locations indicated are the same for the left and right
sides of the vehicle.
Note: Ensure the wear indicator does not contact any part of the
caliper, the caliper mounting bracket or the brake pad shim.
