Customer statement:
The message “Radiator blind: fault. Maximum speed limited to 10 mph. Please contact workshop” is
shown in the Audi virtual cockpit.
The message usually no longer appears after the ignition is switched off and then on again.

Workshop findings:
One or more of the following DTC’s (intermittent/static) are stored in the engine control unit J623 (diagnostic
address 0001):
•

P05AF00: Active Grille Air Shutter "B" Stuck On.

•

P05B200: Active Grille Air Shutter 'B' Control Circuit Range/Performance.

•

P05AF00: Active Grille Air Shutter "A" Stuck On.

•

P05A300: Active Grille Air Shutter 'A' Control Circuit Range/Performance.

Technical Background 1
The message appears due to a radiator blind fault.
If the fault occurs, the vehicle’s maximum speed is limited to 100 mph and NOT to 10 mph as shown in the
message. The correct message which should be shown if there is a radiator blind fault is “Radiator blind:

fault. Maximum speed limited to 100 mph. Please contact workshop” .

Software issue in the Audi virtual cockpit relating to the incorrect maximum speed (10 mph rather than 100
mph) shown in the message which appears in the Audi virtual cockpit when a radiator blind fault occurs.

Before performing the update described below, activate DoIP (Diagnostics over Internet Protocol)
communication in the ODIS tester as follows:

“Administration” → “General” → “GFF Process” → option to select communication path → “Only allow
DoIP communication”.

The settings will be reset automatically at the end of every diagnostic session and “Only allow DoIP

communication” will no longer be selected. Diagnostic interface VAS 6154 or VAS 6154A is required to use
DoIP communication.
Using SVM code 17A051, update the Audi virtual cockpit (diagnostic address 0017) to software version
5350 or 7390 or 0232 or 0322 (target software version depends on the installed version of the Audi virtual
cockpit and the vehicle model year).
Start the update on the workshop tester by selecting “flash” and entering the specified SVM code. Follow
the instructions on the tester.
