Summary
Some customers may complain that on rainy days, the front combination light may appear to flicker or flash when the vehicle is stopped. This is not a vehicle defect since the lights are functioning properly; but rather, it is a phenomenon that can occur due to light refraction from water running over the headlamp lens while illuminated. NOTE: Explain to the customer that the repair described in this TSB helps disperse the water running over the headlamp lens to avoid the water flow concentrating to the lens axis, but it does not eliminate the phenomenon completely. No mass production is scheduled.

DESCRIPTION
Some customers may complain that on rainy days, the front combination light may appear to flicker or flash when the
vehicle is stopped. This is not a vehicle defect since the lights are functioning properly; but rather, it is a phenomenon
that can occur due to light refraction from water running over the headlamp lens while illuminated.
NOTE: Explain to the customer that the repair described in this TSB helps disperse the water running over the headlamp
lens to avoid the water flow concentrating to the lens axis, but it does not eliminate the phenomenon completely. No
mass production is scheduled.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the customer concern.
NOTE: The repair procedure below is shown on the right side combination light, and the procedure for the left side is the
same as for the right side. Repair both left and right side front combination lights.
2. Open the hood and clean the upper surface of the front combination lights.
3. Install the protector (1) into the gap under the radiator grille upper face as shown (2).

4. Close the hood and adjust the protector.
Protector position adjustment notes:
(1) Align the protector’s corner to the hood line.
(2) Leave the protector’s edge 3mm out from the hood line.
The arrow indicates the front of the vehicle.
5. Open the hood and attach the protector to the front combination light using a curing tape.
6. Carefully remove the release paper from the protector.
NOTE:
• Gently press the protector on the taped area to avoid tearing the release paper and to prevent the protector
slipping out of its proper position.
• The area inserted in the gap under the radiator grille’s upper face needs extra care for a complete removal of the
release paper.
7. After completely removing the release paper, press the protector along its entire length with a pressing force around
11 lbs (49N).
8. Turn over the hood weatherstrip’s corner and clean the protector attachment area.

9. Attach the protector.
