RADIATOR COOLANT LEAK INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT

Description: Certain 2022MY Kona (OS) vehicles may exhibit a slight radiator coolant leak. Follow the
procedure outlined in this bulletin to inspect and if necessary, replace the radiator to correct the
condition.
Applicable Vehicles:
• 2022MY Kona (OS) equipped with 2.0L MPI engine produced from 3/2/2021 - 4/15/2022.

undercover (A).

Ensure not to damage the parts (floor
under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank, and
canister) located under the vehicle.

Check the bottom LH (B) and RH (C) of the
radiator for a coolant leak.

STOP. Do not continue with this

standard diagnosis.

Document the coolant leaking condition at the
radiator using STUI prior to radiator
replacement.

Using STUI, take a photo of the leaking
area(s) of the radiator with the last 6
digits of the VIN and the date of repair
on a piece of paper.
Upload the photo to STUI.

Prior to disconnecting the battery, ensure
to record the radio presets.
Remove the air duct and disconnect the
negative (–) battery terminal (D).

Separate the A/C condenser and condenser
bracket from the radiator assembly.

Push the A/C condenser up from the
driver side to remove it from the
integrated L-clips and to the left to
release it from the A/C condenser
bracket.

Remove the radiator assembly (N) from the
vehicle.

Install the new radiator in the reverse order of
removal along with other disconnected or
removed components.

Fill the radiator with coolant (O).
Refer to the shop manual:

Repair procedure

NOTICE
Be sure to follow the Integrated Thermal
Module Coolant Filling Mode procedure.
Failure to do so may result in air pockets
and overheating of engine.

20.

Start the engine and then check the radiator
and hose connection for any leaks.

21.

Adjust the coolant level as necessary to the
FULL line and program the recorded radio
presets.

22.

Service procedure is now completed.
