This Service Information Bulletin (Revision 3) replaces SI B28 01 24 dated July 2024.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Vehicles which require this campaign to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR, AWP,
Campaign Summary, or Warranty Vehicle Inquiry
Please make sure you check your dealer inventory as soon as possible. You can see a list of affected vehicles in
Inventory Campaign Details (ICD) under ROSS.

SITUATION
Micro-movements combined with frictional corrosion can increase wear on the longitudinal splined
connection between the double clutch transmission (DCT) and the transfer box.

CORRECTION
Rework the surface mating area on the double clutch transmission (DCT) at the transfer case.

PROCEDURE
Remove the transfer box in accordance with repair instructions 27 10 010 Removing and installing the
transfer box.
Contrary to the repair instructions, no oil change is required for the double clutch transmission.
Clean the inner splines of the DCT (1) with
brake cleaner and a brass wire brush (nothing
harder than brass)

Clean the outer splines of the transfer case
with brake cleaner and a brass wire brush (1)
(nothing harder than brass)

Replace the radial shaft oil seal for the DCT (as listed in the repair instructions).
Apply grease (MI-Setral-43N) evenly to the
inside of the input flange so that the spaces
between the teeth are filled (1).

Clean off excess grease from the end face of
the gear (1). Ensure the grease makes no
contact with the shaft seal (2).

Apply a continuous bead of Loctite 5970 to the input
shaft of the transfer case (1). The transfer case
must be installed immediately after applying the
Loctite.

Install special washers (1) between the
stabilizer link and the transfer case before
bolting the transfer case to the DCT.

applicable Model if two or more vehicle choices show), or enter the full VIN (17 characters), click on the
“Search” button. Next, click on the “Flat Rate Units” button and enter the flat rate labor operation code in the
field to the right, click “Search” to display the Flat Rate Unit Group detail choices.
