Important: Either the technician or the service advisor should question the customer
about the sequence of events that led to the failure. A defining point would be if the customer states they were unable to shut the vehicle down and that led to a dead battery.
This would more than likely point to a drifted park position. Qualifying the sequence of
events would be very helpful in the diagnostics.
Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:
• Dead battery
• No Start
• Vehicle will not shut down

This condition may be caused by park sensor drift or communication error, caused by
module or circuitry.

Note: This applies to transmissions produced before TUN 112(30563AEPX0068 (Wixom). All Wixom units TUNs start with 112.
The TUN date is broken down by the fourth through seventh digit of the TUN. Example would be 112(3056)3AEPX0068 3-calendar year 056 - Julian date of the year.
This applies to transmission produced before TUN 22231353AMPK0006 (St. Catharines).
All St. Catharines units TUNs start with 222.
The TUN date is broken down by the fourth through seventh digit of the TUN. Example would be 222(3135)3AMPK0006 3-calendar year 135 - Julian date of the year.
Important: If the transmission falls after these dates, the technician should disregard
contacting TAC for park sensor measure and proceed with diagnosing the symptoms and
DTCs. Transmissions built after these dates are not subject to park drift.
The technician is advised to start a TAC case immediately, prompt into the transmission
group, and forward the park sensor measurement found in GDS transmission data if the
transmission is built prior to these dates. Screenshots below define the information TAC
is requesting.

The TAC agent will use this data to request that engineering verify the park position at
birth. Comparison of this data will confirm whether the transmission has park sensor drift
that will require transmission replacement, or the correct direction of vehicle repair.
