Some technicians may notice that after reprogramming the ECM
the check engine is illuminated. Upon inspection technician may
find DTCs P060C.
Cause
This condition may be caused by not cycling the key during the
programming event. DTC P060C may set if the key is not cycled
before the clear codes step during the reprogramming event.
This issue is currently under investigation.
The software and SI procedures do not tell you to cycle the key.
Please follow the correction step below to clear the DTC.
Correction:
To correct this condition please follow the steps outlined below.
Note: This is slightly different from what is currently shown in service information.
To reprogram an existing K20 Engine Control Module, perform the following procedure:
1. Access the Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
2. Perform one of the following SPS Programming functions:
Note: If both controller options below are listed, select K20/K71 Engine and
Transmission Control Modules.
K20/K71 Engine and Transmission Control Modules and follow the on-screen
instructions.
K20 Engine Control Module and follow on-screen instructions.
IMPORTANT: Turn Ignition ON and OFF, all vehicle systems OFF. It may take up to 2 min for
all vehicle systems to power down.
3. Clear DTCs after completing the Programming procedure.
4. If equipped, perform the Fuel Pressure Regulator Learn via GDS2, Engine Control
Module, Configuration/Reset Functions, Learn Functions.
5. Clear DTCs.
DTC P060C is a safety code and will not clear during the same key cycle as set, so a
key cycle and full sleep is needed before clearing the code.
