a base engine concern, it is not necessary to proceed with this PI.

Cause:

If upon inspection of the customers concern you find that there is an
internal engine concern or a concern in which suspect damage is
found and major component replacement may be necessary, please
proceed with this PI

GM Engineering has a need to gather additional information on 6.2L
RPO (L87) engine related bearing failures PRIOR to repair that may
exhibit this condition. As a result, this information will be used
to develop/validate a field fix. Additionally, this engine assembly is on
part restriction.

Correction
General Motors has placed the following part numbers for 2022-2024 6.2L RPO (L87)
engine on a PQC part restriction
Part number: 12740076
If you encounter an engine with any internal engine concern, please complete the
questionnaire below and call the PQC with findings and any provide any additional
information that may be beneficial to help aid in root cause diagnosis.
Please add any pictures of the concern to the case that will help with root cause.
Note: When engine is replaced be sure to follow bulletin 22-NA-074 (Information on
Gasoline Engine Replacement Guidelines after Connecting Rod or Crankshaft Main Bearing
Damage - Replace Oil Cooler, Oil Cooler Lines, Oil Tank and Turbocharger)

U.S Dealers:
Please contact the Product Quality Center (PQC) by opening a new case via Dealer Case
Management (DCM).
From the DCM home page, click on “New PQC Case” found on the Technical Assistance tab.

Then in Global Connect, click on the Support/Chat tab, TAC-PQC Tab, PQC - Parts
Restrictions Templates to download the appropriate PQC - Parts Restrictions Template​and
save a copy to your computer.
You can attach a copy of the template to your PQC Case.

If your diagnosis leads to a possible part replacement, please contact the PQC by email
at [email protected] or by calling 1-866-654-7654 to receive the PQC -Parts Restriction
Template then, return the completed Parts Restriction Questions for engineering review.

information and provide important details that we may not necessarily see on the repair
order. This in no way prevents you from receiving an engine assembly.

Technician Questionnaire:
Q1: What was the customer’s concern?
Q2: Is the Restricted part being requested for Customer Pay (CP) or Model Year 2021?
(Y/N).
If yes, STOP. Do not continue template. Contact PQC.
Q3: Is the first time in for this concern or is this a repeat concern?
Q4:

What is the current engine oil level?

Q5: What brand and part number oil filter is on the engine?
Q6: Inspect and if necessary, cut open the oil filter. Is oil filter contaminated with metal
debris?
Q7: Has the vehicle been modified with non-production accessories or calibration? (Y/N)
Q8: Describe the failure.
Q9: If the engine oil pan was removed what type of failure did you find? Thrust bearing
only, thrust and rod bearing or main bearing.
Q10: Does the vehicle have any DTCs in the ECM/TCM/BCM? (Y/N)
Q11: Please provide the engine EUN number. This number can be found on the bottom of
the white EUN label (circled in yellow). This label is located on the cylinder head and
engine block. Below is an example of the EUN number we are looking for.
