SUNROOF DRAIN HOSE PLUGS REPAIR/REPLACEMENT

Description: Certain GV70 (JK1) and GV80 (JX1) vehicles may exhibit water leakage inside the vehicle
due to the sunroof drain hose plugs being clogged with foreign material. Follow the procedures in this
bulletin to replace the front sunroof drain hose plugs and modify the rear drain hose plugs.

Applicable Vehicles (Certain):
• 2022-2023MY GV70 (JK1) vehicles produced before 06/30/2022
• 2021-2023MY GV80 (JX1) vehicles produced before 03/31/2022

NOTE 5: If a part is found in need of replacement while performing this TSB and the affected part is
still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same repair order. If the affected part is out of
warranty, submit a Prior Approval request for goodwill consideration prior to performing the work.
NOTE 6: Include cost/usage of equivalent super glue product in sublet as part of claim submission for
reimbursement.

Disconnect the negative (–) terminal of the
12V battery (A).

Open the front door and remove the front door
body weatherstrip (B).

section of the Shop Manual, under Body
(Interior and Exterior).

Remove the crash pad side cover (C).

NOTICE
Use a trim removal tool when removing
components to prevent damage.
Be careful not to scratch components
during removal.

Remove the crash pad lower panel (D).

Disconnect the crash pad lower panel
connector (E) by pressing the locking pin.

Disconnect the DLC connector (F) by pressing
the locking pin.

Remove the knee airbag module (G).

Disconnect the knee airbag connectors (H) by
pressing the locking pins.

9.

Locate the front driver side sunroof drain hose
plug (I) underneath the crash pad and behind
the Integrated Central Control Unit (ICCU).
Remove the front driver side sunroof drain
hose plug (I).

The plug may be removed by hand or
with a clip removal tool.

Apply super glue to the inner surface of the
new drain plug (J).

Information

• Ensure super glue is applied to the
entire circumference of the inner
surface.

• If an alternative super glue or adhesive
is used, verify that it is approved for
use on rubber (TPE) and plastic (PVC)
before application.

Install the new drain hose plug (J) onto the
drain hose.

Information

• When installing the new drain hose
plug, ensure the arrow (K) is facing
upwards.
• Refer to diagram on the right for
proper orientation of the drain hose
plug during installation.

Using STUI, take a photo of the new
drain hose plug installed on the drain
hose with the last 6 digits of the VIN
and the date of repair on a piece of
paper.
Upload the photo to STUI.

Insert the new drain hose plug (K) into the
body and pull on the plug by hand to ensure it
is seated properly and does not come out.

Integrated Body Control Unit (IBU) underneath
the crash pad.

Locate the front passenger side sunroof drain
hose plug (G) behind the crash pad and above
the IBU connectors.
Remove the front passenger side sunroof drain
hose plug (G).

The IBU connectors and wiring harness
may need to be moved out of the way to
obtain access to the drain hose plug. The
IBU does not need to be removed.

7.

Apply super glue to the inner surface of the
new drain plug (H).

Information

• Ensure super glue is applied to the
entire circumference of the inner
surface.

• If an alternative super glue or adhesive
is used, verify that it is approved for
use on rubber (TPE) and plastic (PVC)

Install the new drain hose plug (H) onto the

Raise the vehicle on a lift.

2.

Locate the rear driver side drain hose plug (A)
above the muffler.

3.

Measure and cut off the tip of the rear drain
hose plug as shown.
•

Cut off approx.: 3/8 inch (10 mm)

Using STUI, take a photo of the
modified drain hose plug with the last 6
digits of the VIN and the date of repair
on a piece of paper.
Upload the photo to STUI.

5.

Locate the rear passenger side drain hose
plug (B) above the muffler.

Repeat steps 3-4 on the rear passenger drain
hose plug.

7.

Reinstall all removed parts in the reverse order
of removal.

8.

The service procedure is now complete.
