DESCRIPTION:
If a customer reports to have gotten the DIM message “disconnect charging cable” while there was
actually no charging cable attached and DTC VCU1-U116E00 was set as permanent, please follow the
advice in section “Service”.
NOTE: This TJ should not be confused with TJ 36404/5, which pertains to the same symptom and DTC
but on older model years. The solution outlined in TJ 36404/5 does not solve the issue for vehicles
covered by this TJ.

NOTE: This TJ applies only, if the customer does not face any trouble while charging the vehicle.
The DIM message “disconnect charging cable” while no charging cable is attached can occur
randomly on cars that have no issue with charging.
The technical background is that the OBC is not getting woken up in the moment the customer want
to start the car. Without having a clear feedback from the OBC that no charging cable is attached, for
safety reasons the DIM message “disconnect charging cable” is shown.
An improved software is available in VIDA from 2024 week 26 and planned to be available via OTA a
few weeks later.
If not urgent for the customer, wait for the OTA to be released to the car.
If urgent, perform a software upgrade according to TJ 31543.
Note!
Almost all cars with iCUP/Google built in are OTA capable.
Individual cars that the manufacturer have identified as not possible to receive OTA will have a pop-up
message in VIDA with a reference to follow TJ36139.
