Described Condition
In New Cascadia vehicles, the battery cable access (BCA) module, which includes an internal high current

contactor, has been found to operate inconsistently in temperatures that fall below -4°F (-20°C). This issue tends

to surface each winter, particularly in vehicles left parked overnight in conditions where the temperature dips

below -4°F (-20°C). The problem becomes apparent when the cab load disconnect switch (CLDS) is switched to

the off position.
Beginning on April 14, 2024, new BCA module part numbers, which contain new electronic sub-components to

address this performance issue, are being installed on all products. These BCAs will function correctly down to

-40°F (-40°C). The new contactors will be available for servicing vehicles.
w Note: Part A66-36856-026 can be used to replace many existing parts. However, it

is necessary to confirm fuse ratings and to move the circuit breaker, if equipped, from

the BCA being replaced.
The new part number will enable the contactor in the BCA to switch on and off at temperatures down to -40°F

(-40°C). See Table 1.
