Some customers may comment on seeing water leaks from around the windshield.

Cause

The cause of the condition may be caused by multiple factors that inhibit the ability of the
factory installed sealants to seal the upper structure.

Correction

For vehicles exhibiting this condition, follow the repair steps in the Service Procedure
below.
As part of the repair, dealer should order new roof panel joint front finish moldings to be
installed. Multiple design changes were made to add water leak mitigation improvements.

International, Federal, State, Provincial, and/or
Local laws applicable to the activities it performs
under this bulletin, including but not limited to
handling, deploying, preparing, classifying,
packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping
dangerous goods. In the event of a conflict
between the procedures set forth in this bulletin
and the laws that apply to your dealership, you
must follow those applicable laws.
Important: This technical service bulletin (TSB) can
only be completed by BrightDrop dealers or BrightDrop
certified repair facilities who have met all BrightDrop
specific training, tool and equipment requirements.
Repairs must be performed by a technician who has
successfully completed the required training

2. Remove headliner to improve visibility for water
leak test. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel
Replacement – (Left and Right) Side in SI.

Service Procedure
If you encounter a vehicle with the above concern,
complete the following:
1. Remove both Left and Right roof panel joint front
finish moldings. Refer to Roof Panel Joint Front
Finish Molding Replacement in SI.

3. Air bubble test using soapy solution and air gun to
confirm the rat hole is the cause of the leak.

4. Clean and prep both sides of the vehicle. Wipe
aluminum surfaces with Kent Acrysol, P20005, or
equivalent, to remove any residual sealer or
urethane. Wipe down all aluminum surfaces with
70% Isopropyl Alcohol.

5. Apply Kent® Quick Seal MSP Seam Sealer Kit #
KT15176 (White), or equivalent, to all seams on
both sides of the vehicle. Allow seam sealer to
cure for 24 hours.

6. Water test using hose or repeat air bubble test to
confirm leak is no longer present.
7. If no leaks are present, install new left and right
roof panel joint front finish moldings. Refer to Roof
Panel Joint Front Finish Molding Replacement in
SI.
