Check Routing of 12V Battery Ground Cable

This is to notify you of the Service Campaign Launch to check the routing of the 12V battery ground cable in 4,932 Model Year
(“MY”) 2022-2023 AMG SL (232 platform) vehicles. The vehicles will be visible and flagged in VMI as “OPEN” on July 12, 2024.

Background
Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined
that on certain MY 2022-2023 AMG SL (232 platform) vehicles, the routing of the
12V battery ground cable may not correspond to current production specifications.
In this case, it is possible the ground connection may loosen over time. Should the
ground connection loosen, the possibility exists that the convertible soft top may
become inoperable, or a "12V battery, voltage too low" message may appear in the
instrument cluster.

What We’re Doing

MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will
check the routing of the 12V battery ground cable and rework it if necessary.

Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain
MY 2022-2023 AMG SL (232 platform) vehicles, the routing of the 12V battery ground cable may not
correspond to current production specifications. In this case, it is possible the ground connection may
become loose over time. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will check the 12V battery ground cable and
rework it if necessary.

Prior to performing this Campaign:


VMI must be checked before performing campaigns to verify that the campaign is required on a
specific vehicle. Always check for any other open campaigns and perform accordingly.



Please review the entire Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.

Check Routing of 12V Battery Ground Cable

Work Procedure
1. Remove load compartment floor in trunk and trim under load compartment floor in trunk.
For basic information, see: AR68.30-P-4621SLY.

2. Disconnect ground line of 12 V on-board electrical system battery.
For basic information, see: AR54.10-P-0051SLY.

Depending on the condition of the vehicle body, the initial state of the ground line (5) and wiring harness (6)
routing may vary. The final routing of the harness must be as shown above (Figure 1) for all vehicles.

3. Loosen nut (Figure 2, 1) at ground point W10 (do not remove the nut completely!).
4. Fasten the two fir tree clips (Figure 2, 2) to the ground line (Figure 2, 5) and to the body as shown.
If the two fir tree clips and cable ties (Figure 2, 2) are fastened to the wiring harness (Figure 2, 6), the cable
ties must be removed and two new cable ties must be installed to fasten the ground line (Figure 2, 5) to the
existing fir tree clips.

5. Install one new fir tree clip (Figure 2, 7) to the body as shown.
6. Fasten ground line (Figure 2, 5) to the new fir tree clip (Figure 2, 7) with a new cable tie (Figure 2, 4).

7. Tighten nut (Figure 3, 1) at ground point W10 with specified torque (9 Nm).
8. Fasten wiring harness (Figure 3, 6) to ground line (Figure 3, 5) with the two omega clips (Figure 3, 3) as shown.
9. Connect ground line of battery of 12 V on-board electrical system.

10. Install load compartment floor in trunk and trim under load compartment floor.
