SITUATION
When driving over rough surfaces, a low-frequency rattling noise can be heard inside the vehicle's cabin.
The noise typically sounds as though it is coming from the front right footwell area.

CAUSE
The washer fluid reservoir mounting hook has too much play, which allows the reservoir to vibrate and
cause a noise.

CORRECTION
Replace the washer fluid reservoir.

PROCEDURE
In the event of a customer complaint, proceed as follows,
1. Inspect the washer fluid reservoir for play or
looseness, check the mounting points or areas
where contact may occur.

2. Confirm the source of the noise is the washer
fluid reservoir.

3. If the noise is determined to originate from the reservoir, replace it with the improved part listed below. Follow the
repair instructions “Replacing the washer fluid reservoir for the washer system 61 71 065 | REP-REP-P6171065-G60/G70 - V.1”.

4. Before installing the new reservoir, apply two
pieces of fabric tape to the upper mounting point
(circled in red).
Note: layer fabric tape one piece on top of the
other.

5. After guiding the washer fluid reservoir into
the holder. Press the reservoir firmly towards
the passenger compartment before tightening
the self-locking hex bolt.

6. After performing the washer fluid reservoir installation, check for leaks, and test functionality of the system.

number into either ETK or AIR which will consider the specific equipment and/or options that are fitted to the
vehicle.
Dependent on the optional equipment, the function and number of washer pumps can vary. Choose the
washer fluid reservoir for your specific equipment and/or options fitted to the vehicle.

To obtain the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance information from the BMW Group AIR application
resource, start by entering the Chassis Number (the last seven (7) characters of the VIN, select the
applicable Model if two or more vehicle choices show), or enter the full VIN (17 characters), click on the
“Search” button. Next, click on the “Flat Rate Units” button and enter the flat rate labor operation code in the
