Introduction
Some 2023 – 2024 model year Prius Prime vehicles may exhibit a condition where the 12V
auxiliary battery charge may deplete due to the plug-in charge control ECU not entering sleep
mode when the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) charging cable has an extended
connection without charging (for more than two hours). The plug-in charge control ECU has been
modified to reduce the possibility of this condition. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to
address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect
for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in
this bulletin.
For 2023 – 2024 Model Year Prius Prime vehicles equipped with a California Certified Emission
Control System that are registered and operated in California or any state that adopts California
emission warranty – Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) / Transitional Zero Emission Vehicle
(TZEV) Emission Warranty Coverage is in effect for 15 years or 150,000 miles, from the vehicle’s
in-service date, whichever occurs first. (Please reference Warranty Policy 4.7 and/or the Owner’s
Warranty & Maintenance Guide for additional information).
For 2023 Model Year Prius Prime vehicles equipped with a California Certified Emission Control
System that are registered and operated in Delaware, Virginia, or Washington – PZEV / TZEV
Warranty Coverage is in effect for 7 years or 70,000 miles from the vehicle’s in-service date,
whichever occurs first. (Please reference Policy 4.7 and/or the Owner’s Warranty & Maintenance
Guide for additional information).
For 2024 Model Year Prius Prime vehicles equipped with a California Certified Emission Control
System that are registered and operated in Delaware or Virginia – PZEV / TZEV Warranty
Coverage is in effect for 7 years or 70,000 miles from the vehicle’s in-service date, whichever
occurs first. (Please reference Policy 4.7 and/or the Owner’s Warranty & Maintenance Guide for
additional information).

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the condition exists.
Does the vehicle exhibit a condition where the 12V auxiliary battery charge may deplete due
to the plug-in charge control ECU not entering sleep mode when the PHEV charging cable
has an extended connection without charging?
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Use GTS+ to confirm if the plug-in charge control ECU calibration has been updated.
Is the calibration ID listed in GTS+ the latest ECU calibration?
YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
NO — Continue to step 3.
3. Flash reprogram the plug-in charge control ECU.
NOTE
The battery diagnostic tool MUST be used in Power Supply Mode to maintain battery voltage at
13.5V while flash reprogramming the vehicle.
For details on how to use the battery diagnostic tool, refer to the DCA-8000 Instruction Manual
located at TIS – Diagnostics – Tools & Equipment – Battery Diagnostics.
Follow the procedures outlined in T-SB-0107-20, GTS+ ECU Flash Reprogramming
Procedure With Security Signature, and flash reprogram the ECU with the NEW calibration
file update.
4. Confirm the condition is no longer present.
Ensure the plug-in charge control ECU enters sleep mode by using the parasitic draw test
procedures referenced in T-QTG-611B-D, Quick Training Guide: Starting, Charging and
Parasitic Draw Tests.
