Introduction
Some 2022 – 2024 model year Tundra Hybrid and 2023 – 2024 model year Sequoia Hybrid
vehicles may exhibit a condition where the vehicle starts in second gear from a stop, and does not
allow a manual shift to first gear (S1) without first switching to 4WD or driving over 15 mph.
The Engine Control Module (ECM) (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been
modified to address these conditions. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address
these conditions.

1. Confirm the condition exists.
Does the vehicle exhibit a condition where the vehicle starts in second gear from a stop, and
does not allow a manual shift to first gear (S1) without first switching to 4WD or driving over
15 mph?
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Use GTS+ to confirm if the ECM (PCM) calibration has been updated.
Is the calibration ID listed in GTS+ the latest ECM (PCM) calibration?
YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
NO — Continue to step 3.

3. Flash reprogram the ECM (PCM).
NOTE
The battery diagnostic tool MUST be used in Power Supply Mode to maintain battery voltage
at 13.5V while flash reprogramming the vehicle.
For details on how to use the battery diagnostic station, refer to the DCA-8000 Instruction Manual
located at TIS – Diagnostics – Tools & Equipment – Battery Diagnostics.
Follow the procedures outlined in Service Bulletin T-SB-0107-20, GTS+ ECU Flash
Reprogramming With Security Signature, to flash reprogram the ECM (PCM) with the NEW
calibration file update.
4. Clear ANY DTCs and test-drive the vehicle to confirm the condition has been resolved.
