TITLE:

Oil escape at the banjo bolt on the turbocharger

COMPLAINT
The oil pressure lines with plastic hose variant could lose leak-tightness at the turbocharger.

CAUSE
Abnormal settlement at the ring connection of the oil pressure line.

REMEDY
One-time retightening of the banjo bolt on the turbocharger.

MEASURE TYPE
The scope of the work is carried out as part of a Customer Service measure (KDM).

INFORMATION
Oil pressure lines with steel flex hose are not affected. These do not exhibit settlement at the ring
connection.
Please schedule in several hours for the workshop visit because the area around the exhaust gas
turbocharger must be allowed to cool down first before the measure can be carried out.

Risk of injury. Risk of injury to skin and eyes when handling hot or red-hot objects. Contact with
hot or red-hot objects may cause severe burns to skin and eyes if the appropriate protective
clothing is not worn. When red-hot objects come into contact with water, hot steam or spray is
produced and this can cause serious burns to skin and eyes. If hot or red-hot objects come into
contact with unprotected skin or eyes, serious and even permanent damage can result. There is a
risk of fire if red-hot objects come into contact with flammable materials.

Preparatory tasks
1.

Open the engine compartment flap.

2.

Open the rear left service cover.

1.

Unscrew the exhaust pipe of auxiliary heating (1) from member (2) and let it dangle to the side.

Remove heat shield (1) from the exhaust gas turbocharger.

3.

Using a telescopic inspection mirror or similar aid, check oil pressure line (1) behind the
turbocharger.

Check the oil pressure line.

▶ No further measure necessary.

Oil pressure line with plastic hose (2) is fitted.
▶ Retightening the banjo bolt of the oil pressure line to torque

Finishing tasks
1.

Screw the heat shield onto the turbocharger.

2.

Fasten the exhaust pipe of the auxiliary heater in place on the member.

3.

Close the rear left service cover.

4.

Close the engine compartment flap.
