HOW TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN THE VERSION 1 (V1) AND VERSION 2 (V2) STARTER DRIVE Due to an ongoing change in the model year, there are two variants of the starter drive on the affected model (see Fig. 1). On the following pages the distinguishing features will now be detailed and there will be an explanation of how the two variants are presented in the spare parts catalog.

BASIC INFORMATION:
Due to an ongoing change in the model year, there are two variants of the starter drive on the affected model
(see Fig. 1).

PROCEDURE FOR REPAIR:
We shall not provide a description of general workshop methods. Likewise, safety rules that apply in a workshop
are not specified here. It is assumed that the repair work will be performed by a fully trained mechanic who has
completed training or has a corresponding qualification. In the event of uncertainty, the most recent repair
manual must be consulted.
In the interest of clarity, some components may be shown disassembled or may not be shown at all. It is not
always necessary to disassemble the component to perform the activity in question. Please follow the
instructions in the text.
On vehicle
The two variants of the starter drive can be distinguished on the vehicle in the following ways:

Spare parts are available for both version 1 and version 2 of the engine. Both engine variants should be
repaired according to the standard repair process.
If in the future components of engine variant V1 are no longer available, it is possible to convert the
engine from variant V1 to variant V2.
