CAMBER MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE
1. Unit must be parked on level ground prior to beginning Camber
Measurement Procedure. Level unit side to side in front.

2. Take a measurement from the bottom of the main rail to the
lowest point of the axle, Fig. 1.
3. Add one inch to that measurement.
4. Cut 2 x 4 to measurement taken in #3; See Fig. 2. Be sure to
allow 1 1/2” at the top for the Clamp Block (2a) portion of the 2 x 4.

5. Clamp one (1) 2 x 4; see Fig. 3 to the bottom of the main rail at the front of the unit; Fig. 4,
and clamp one (1) to the bottom of the main rail in the rear; Fig. 5. The bottom of the 2 x 4s
must hang below the lowest point of the axles.
6. Extend a string from the bottom of the 2 x 4 in the front of the unit to the bottom of the 2 x 4
in the rear of the unit; see Figs. 4 & 5.

7. Measure from bottom of the main rail to the string at each of the locations listed below.
1st Location - At rear 2 x 4.
2nd Location - 4 ft. forward or directly behind rear tire, whichever is closest to the rear.
3rd Location - Between tires (1 measurement for Dual Axle; 2 measurements for Triple Axle.)
NOTE: These measurements are the most critical and must be accurate.
4th Location - In front of front tire.
5th Location - 4 ft. in front of front tire or at front 2 x 4.
NOTE: Measurements for the 1st location and the 5th location should be the equal
if the set up is the same.

drop down.

FRAME CAMBER MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE
FRAMES AND CHASSIS

Purpose
The intent of this TI Sheet is to help determine Frame Camber measurements. The specified measurement locations
(see instructions) are designed to help see and understand where the Camber is and should be. The center of
the axle area (center hanger on a tandem axle unit, or center axle on a triple axle unit) will be the determining
measurement for Camber.
Moving parts can pinch, crush or cut. Keep clear and use caution.
The coach MUST be supported per manufacturer's specifications before
working underneath. Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
Always wear eye protection when performing service or maintenance to the
vehicle. Other safety equipment to consider would be hearing protection,
gloves and possibly a full face shield, depending on the nature of the service.
Failure to follow the instructions provided in this manual may result in death,
serious injury, vehicle damage, or voiding of the component warranty.

Camber Measurements
Note: The Camber Gauges (328425 - Long; 328426 - Short) referenced in these instructions are available to
purchase from Lippert Components. If the gauges are not available, use two straight bars of the
same sufficient length to perform the procedure.
1. Unit MUST be parked on level ground prior to beginning Camber Measurement Procedure. Level unit
side to side in front.
2. Clamp one Camber Gauge to the bottom of the main rail at the front of the unit (Fig. 1). Clamp another
one to the bottom of the main rail in the rear (Fig. 2). The bottom of the Camber Gauges MUST hang
below the lowest point of the axles.

Extend a string from the bottom of the Camber Gauge in the front of the unit to the bottom of the
Camber Gauge in the rear of the unit (Fig. 3).

Measure from bottom of the main rail to the string (Fig. 4) at each of the locations listed below. Letters
correspond to Camber Measurement Worksheet on Page 4.
A. At rear Camber Gauge.
B. 4 ft. forward or directly behind rear tire, whichever is closest to the rear.
C.

Between tires (1 measurement for Dual Axle; 2 measurements for Triple Axle).

D. In front of front tire.
E.

4 ft. in front of front tire or at front Camber Gauge.

Note: Measurements A and E should be equal if the set up is the same.
5. Repeat Step 4 for letters F-J in the Camber Measurement Worksheet on Page 4.

Note: In the event the unit is a fifth wheel with a drop down deck, use the Short Gauge (328426) on the
drop down section of the frame and the Long Gauge (328425) on the other section of the frame
(Fig 5).
