TITLE
Fitment of lower spring seat isolator to front damper assemblies to eliminate scraping noise whilst
driving.
REASON
Movement between the contact areas of the front damper
spring seats and road springs can cause a scraping noise
whilst driving. If this scraping action is occurring, then it will
also cause visible witness marks on the spring seat/spring
contact area.
To prevent this scraping action on customer vehicles, the
isolators already fitted to the upper spring seat, can now also
be fitted to the base of the front road springs.
As a production running change, lower spring seat isolators
will also be fitted from:
Emira V6 VIN: SCCLEKAX5PHN10585
Emira 4-cylinder VIN: SCCLEKKXXRHN42613.
ACTION
If an Emira owner contacts you with concerns of a noise from the front suspension area, prior to the
VIN’s shown above, and it is diagnosed that the source of the noise is a scraping sound coming from
a front damper/road spring assembly, and upon inspections ‘witness marks’ of the spring rubbing
against the lower spring seat are visible, then it is recommended to request prior authorisation to fit
lower spring seat isolators.
Lower spring isolators are available to order as required via the Lotus Dealer Connect parts system.

Procedure:
1.Remove both front left and right-hand side road springs from the damper
assemblies, refer to operation codes 31.01.40 and 31.01.41 from the Emira
service notes.
2.Fit a lower spring seat isolator over the damper lower spring seat, (not on the
spring).

3.Place the spring back onto the damper and fit the Spring onto the lower
spring seat isolator and then rotate the spring so that the end of the spring
touches the raised feature moulding on inside the Isolator as shown in the
image.

4.Rotate the spring so that the end of the bottom coil is aligned to
the centreline of the outboard side of the damper.

5.With the top spring rubber and top damper bracket refitted, release the road spring compressor and
recheck the road spring bottom coil is still aligned to the centre of the outboard edge of the damper.
6.Repeat this procedure to the other damper assembly.
Note: It is not necessary to check any of the static steering and geometry settings after fitment of
these isolators.

CHARGES
A warranty claim may be submitted with a valid prior authorisation number on the Lotus Dealer
Connect system for 2.0 hours labour time per vehicle, plus 2 x 8892940625 Lower Spring Seat
Isolators, using operation code 31.01.42-06 using A code 3 and B code 34.
Please quote bulletin number TSB-131-24011 in the remarks section of the warranty claim.
