AFFECTED VEHICLES: Certain 2004-2007 Lancer, 2006-2009 Raider, and 2012-2017 i-MiEV
PURPOSE:
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) mailed letters to owners of certain
2004-2007 Lancer, 2006-2009 Raider, and 2012-2017 i-MiEV vehicles with open Takata
recalls and California addresses. These notification letters were mailed on May 24, 2024
and printed on California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) letterhead. Please take
time to familiarize yourself with the attached letter as some owners may ask you about
their authenticity.
MMNA has ample inventory of Takata recall parts. To minimize any customer inconvenience,
be sure your dealership has an adequate supply of recall parts on hand.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is contacting you because your
has a recalled airbag that could kill or seriously injure you and your passengers if it deploys.
The DMV wants to alert you that this urgent safety recall is FREE to repair.
The DMV has received information from Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. that the
currently registered in your name with Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):
has an urgent safety recall. If the airbag deploys, in some cases a part inside the airbag may
explode and spray sharp metal fragments or shrapnel toward you and your passengers. Due to the age of
your vehicle, you are at even greater risk of this airbag defect.
According to records from Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., your vehicle airbag has not been
repaired yet. The potentially lifesaving repair is FREE, and the parts are available now. A loaner car,
towing service, or other alternative transportation may be available and, in some cases, may be provided
for FREE. Please immediately call 1-855-681-6147for more information or to schedule a FREE recall
repair.

What should you do?
• Immediately contact a local Mitsubishi dealership to schedule a FREE recall repair. Ask for
alternative transportation, if needed.
• Visit mitsubishicars.com/recall or call 1-855-681-6147 to find your nearest Mitsubishi dealership.
• If you think you have already taken action on this urgent airbag safety recall, visit
www.NHTSA.gov/recalls and enter your vehicle’s VIN to verify and ensure that no other safety recalls
have been issued for your vehicle.
Mitsubishi is one of 19 vehicle manufacturers affected by this urgent airbag safety recall. The National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports 27 confirmed deaths in the United States and
hundreds of alleged injuries resulting from this defect.
