FRONT PASSENGER SEAT RATTLE NOISE REPAIR
(SERVICE CAMPAIGN TBI)

 IMPORTANT
Dealers must perform this service campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
Access the “Vehicle Information” screen via WEBDCS to identify open campaigns.
Description: Certain 2024MY Kona (SX2) vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the front passenger
non-power (manual) seat while driving, caused by excessive tolerance within the seat track assembly.
Follow the procedure in this bulletin to inspect the gap between the self-clinching stud and seat track
and install the correct E-clip that corresponds to the gap size.

Applicable Vehicles (Certain):
• 2024MY Kona (SX2) produced 7/8/2023 – 9/25/2023 and equipped with the non-power
(manual) front passenger seat

affected part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same repair order. If the
affected part is out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval request for goodwill consideration prior to
performing the work.
NOTE 3: This TSB includes Repair validation photos. Op times include VIN, Mileage and Repair
validation photos as outlined in the Digital Documentation Policy.
NOTE 4: The incident parts are subject to callback through the normal Warranty Technical Center

Service Procedure:

This TSB includes Repair validation photos. Refer to the latest Digital Documentation Policy for
requirements.

Adjust the front passenger seat (A) completely
forward and upwards.

Locate the self-clinching stud (B) at the bottom
of the front passenger seat track.

Measure the gap between the self-clinching
stud (B) and the existing E-clip using the
supplied thickness gauge set (C).

If necessary, use a combination of the gauges
to measure the gap.
Example: 0.1 T + 0.3 T = 0.4 T
If the gap is measured to be 0.1 T or less,
proceed to step 12 and do not install any
E-clips.

If the gap is measured to be 0.2 T or more,
proceed to the next step to install the
corresponding E-clip.

Attach the scratch prevention pad (D) around
the self-clinching stud as shown.

Select the corresponding E-clip (E) that
matches the measured gap size.

Insert the E-clip (E) into the E-clip assembly
tool (F) as shown.

Install the E-clip into the gap of the selfclinching stud as shown.

Information

Ensure that the assembly tool is oriented
correctly by verifying that the white
indicator (H) is visible when inserting the
E-clip.

Push the assembly tool (F) forward and fully
insert the E-clip.
If necessary, a rubber mallet may be used on
the assembly tool as shown to fully insert the
E-clip.

NOTICE
Be careful NOT to damage any
components or trim during this process.

Remove the scratch prevention pad that was
attached earlier.

Wipe off any excess grease from the installed
E-clip and surrounding areas with one of the
gauze pads (I).

Apply two drops of the Loctite (J) to the top of
the self-cinching stud as shown.

Apply Loctite even if no E-clip was installed.

STUI
Using STUI, take a photo of the Loctite
applied on the self-cinching stud with
the last 6 digits of the VIN and the date
of repair on a piece of paper.
Upload the photo to STUI.

Rock the front passenger seat from side to
side three times to allow the applied Loctite to
penetrate.

14.

Wipe off any excess Loctite around the
installed E-clip using the other gauze pad (K).

15.

Ensure that the E-clip is securely installed.

16.

Verify that the rattle noise is no longer present
from the front passenger seat.

17.

The service procedure is now complete.
