Condition
Certain PACCAR MX-13 engines contain bolts for the main bearing caps which may fail under certain conditions.
Dealers will remove and replace all main bearing cap bolts on affected trucks. PACCAR will proactively contact customers with chassis identified in this
campaign.
The chassis list will be updated periodically based on prognostics data.
An electric nut runner will become available via PACCAR Parts in June 2024 to reduce labor time and increase the torque accuracy to install the main
bearing cap bolts. This tool is NOT reimbursable through this bulletin.
Chassis Affected
Certain Peterbilt model 365, 367, 389, 567, 579, and 589 chassis equipped with an EPA21 PACCAR MX-13 engine with serial number Y313946 and earlier.

Campaign
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
1. Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the list.
2. In Service Management, select Campaign E316 to add it to the case. If the unit is released back into service without performing the repair, make sure
to also release the Campaign in Service Management.
3. If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review SIR for “Complete” next to the E316 Campaign code prior to performing this
repair.
4. Follow the procedures to remove and replace the main bearing cap bolts.
Warranty
The chassis list will be updated periodically based on prognostic data. PACCAR will identify chassis, contact customer, and load chassis to PRWS and SIR.
Through Standard Warranty or any applicable active Extended Warranty, Peterbilt will pay for parts at dealer net plus applicable mark-up and labor:
3.8 hours labor to replace the main bearing cap bolts WITHOUT electric nut runner. Use Recommended Repair Code E316A.
3.0 hours labor to replace the main bearing cap bolts WITH electric nut runner. Use Recommended Repair Code E316B.
For extraordinary circumstances please use code E316, add from “Recommended Repairs”, and then select the gear icon to edit Parts/Labor/Misc.
For any supplemental repairs, file a long form claim and input (E316) in the “Campaign Code” field.
File the claim within 7 days in accordance with warranty policy.
For cross-division repairs, please refer to Peterbilt warranty policy. Recommended Repair codes listed above do not apply to cross-division repairs.
