Whats New Abstract
On certain Peterbilt, New Medium Duty chassis that are equipped with the optional engine intake air Pre-Filter (option code 3281830) the Pre-Filter may
become clogged and cause premature failure/breach of the primary intake air filter. In some cases, a failed/breached primary filter can result in unusually
high engine RPMs and high crankcase pressure. However, a failed/breached primary filter may not exhibit any of these symptoms.
The immediate fix for this issue is to modify the Pre-Filter by removing the filter media from the base plate, and then reinstalling the modified Pre-Filter
base plate.

Action
Campaign
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the list.
In Service Management, select Campaign 41-027 to add it to the case. If the unit is released back into service without performing the repair, make
sure to also release the campaign in Service Management.
If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review SIR for “Complete” next to the 41-027 campaign code prior to performing this
repair.
Follow the procedural documents in the Links section below to inspect the engine Pre-Filter and primary filter and modify the Pre-Filter element.

Warranty
For repairs completed by 06/01/2025 , Peterbilt will pay for parts at dealer net plus applicable mark-up and labor:
For Dealers using the PRWS Warranty Application, select the Recommended Repair from the Recommended Repair section.

FOR PRE-FILTER AND PRIMARY FILTER INSPECTION WHERE PRE-FILTER IS NOT CLOGGED AND NO DAMAGE/BREACHING IS FOUND TO PRIMARY FILTER:
0.6 hours labor to remove and inspect Pre-Filter, inspect primary filter, open a TCS 365 case, submit filter pictures and Cummins Insite ECM image
via TCS case, and complete Pre-Filter modification procedure. Use Recommended Repair 41-027A.

Peterbilt Motors Company ha decidido que determinados chasis modelo 536, 537 y 548 fabricados desde 07/27/2021 hasta 12/20/2023
con el prefiltro opcional de aire del motor requieren una modificación en el ensamble del prefiltro. Los prefiltros opcionales de aire del
motor pueden obstruirse debido a una frecuencia insuficiente en el servicio. Cuando el prefiltro se obstruye puede causar una falla
prematura/rotura del filtro de aire principal del motor.
¿Cuál es el problema?

Un prefiltro de aire del motor obstruido puede derivar en una falla prematura del filtro de
aire principal del motor.

¿Qué hará su
distribuidor?

Inspeccionará el prefiltro para revisar si está obstruido y el filtro de aire principal del motor
para ver si existe algún daño/rotura. Se quitará el material del filtro en el ensamble del
prefiltro para evitar una futura obstrucción y la falla prematura resultante del filtro de aire
principal del motor.

EXPIRATION DATE: 06/01/2025

Dear Peterbilt Customer,
Peterbilt has decided that certain model 536, 537, and 548 chassis built from 07/27/2021 through 12/20/2023 with the optional engine air
Pre-Filter installed require modification to the Pre-Filter assembly. Optional engine air Pre-Filters may become clogged due to insufficient
servicing frequency. When the Pre-Filter becomes clogged it can cause premature failure/breach of the primary engine air filter.
What is the problem?

A clogged engine air Pre-Filter may lead to premature failure of the engine primary air filter.

What will your dealer
do?

Inspect Pre-Filter for clogging and engine primary air filter for damage/breach. Pre-Filter
assembly will have filter media removed to prevent future clogging and resultant premature
failure of the primary engine air filter.

What should you do?

Contact your dealer immediately to schedule an appointment.

air primaire du moteur.

Que fera votre concessionnaire ?

Inspectera le préfiltre afin d’y détecter un colmatage, ainsi que le filtre à air primaire du
moteur pour des dommages/bris. On enlèvera la couche filtrante de l’assemblage du
préfiltre afin de prévenir le colmatage futur et la défectuosité prématurée du filtre à air
primaire du moteur en résultant.
