Background Information
Dealers are requested to replace the purge valve hose as described in the procedure below.

Customer Contact Instructions
Motorcycles in the affected VIN range must have this Service Bulletin completed prior to delivery to the
customer, or at the next visit to the dealership.

Identification of Affected Motorcycles
Scrambler 1200 X and Scrambler 1200 XE motorcycles in the above VIN range.

NOTICE
Some affected motorcycles listed in the VIN range will have been reworked by Triumph prior to their
release from the factory.
Unmodified motorcycles can be identified by checking the ‘VIN Enquiry’ on www.triumphonline.net.

For Triumph Subsidiary and Overseas Distributor
dealers using Triumph Warranty On-Line with Parts
Auto Ordering Flag switched on: Order all repair parts
by submitting a New Prior through the Warranty OnLine system. Entering the above repair code in a New
Prior will automatically add the parts required and
labour times for this Service Bulletin.
For Overseas Distributor dealers NOT using Triumph
Warranty On-Line or for Overseas Distributor dealers
using Triumph Warranty On-Line with Parts Auto
Ordering Flag switched off: Orders should be placed
using the normal parts ordering procedure.

Genuine Parts Return

Dealer to retain parts for 90 days. All parts must be
stored in a secure, non-public accessed area and
correctly identified with a completed warranty label.
Thereafter the parts must be rendered unusable
prior to scrapping.

Other Instructions
Once completed, please mark the Service Record Book that the requirements of this bulletin have been
complied with.
Before returning the motorcycle to the customer, download the latest calibration using the current version
of the Triumph diagnostic software to the following:
• Engine electronic control module
• Chassis electronic control module (if fitted)
• Keyless electronic control module (if fitted)
• Suspension electronic control module (if fitted)
• Connectivity module (if fitted)
• Instruments (if applicable).

Replace the Purge Valve Hose

WARNING
Make sure the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported.
Do not support the motorcycle on any ancillary component, the exhaust system or any other non
structural parts of the motorcycle frame.
A correctly supported motorcycle will help prevent it from falling.
Failure to follow the advice above could result in serious injury or death.

Remove the sump guard as described in the Service Manual.
Remove the left hand side panel as described in the Service Manual.

Remove the two fixings and remove the left hand control plate assembly from the frame.

Detach the purge valve hose from the underside of the purge valve and feed the hose through the
retaining clip, noting the routing and orientation for installation.

Remove and discard the fir tree clip securing the P-clip to the left hand cradle and release the hose
from the clip, noting the routing for installation.

Detach the purge valve hose from the spigot on the underside of the inlet manifold.
Feed the hose through the locating hole in the crankcase, noting the routing for installation, and
remove the purge valve hose.

NOTICE
The white dot marking on the purge valve hose faces the front of the motorcycle when attaching to the
inlet manifold spigot.

Install the new purge valve hose through the crankcase locating hole and attach it to the spigot on the
underside of the inlet manifold.

9.

Feed the purge valve hose through the retaining clip and onto the purge valve as noted during
removal.

Make sure the purge valve hose is located 2 mm +/- 1 mm away from the face of the purge valve.

Route the purge valve hose through the P-clip and secure using a new fir tree clip. Make sure the side
stand rubber pad is in the correct position.

Install the left hand control plate assembly and tighten the rear fixing to 25 Nm and the front fixing to
40 Nm.
