Purpose: Buttons on remote control may remain actuated
After field update VMV000017 was completed, it was discovered that the rocket remote supplier continued to
supply field replacement remotes with the improper decal overlay.
The buttons on the remote control may be held in the depressed position due to assembly and small button
opening size. If a button or buttons remain in the depressed position, the associated function(s) will continue to
be activated. If this failure occurs prior to installation of the kit, turn off truck’s engine with key to stop
movement. This update will remove the existing control decal and replace it with a new control decal with
larger button openings.

DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY POSSIBLE. When using the remote control to move the boom, debris tank, or
debris tank door, death or serious injury can result if a remote control button remains in the depressed position
and the operator or a crew member is struck by or crushed by the moving boom, debris tank, or debris tank
door.
VMV000083 has been created to provide the necessary parts and instructions to install an updated decal onto
the remote. The kit must be installed as soon as possible.

WARNING: Use the following shutdown procedure before attempting to do any of the work
described in this kit.

Shutdown procedure: VXT500 and VXT600
Mack Chassis
1.

Enter the VXT500 or VXT600 cab.

2.

Press the brake pedal and hold down.

3.

Press the N button (2) on the console.

4.

Verify N1 (1) is illuminated on the
transmission console digital display.

5.

Push PTO 2 rocker switch to shift transfer
case to drive mode.

6.

Release the brake pedal.

7.

Push PTO rocker switch (3) to disengage
the hydraulics.

8.

Verify the PTO light on the dash
extinguishes.

9.

Shut engine off. Remove the keys.

10.

Exit vehicle.

Kenworth Chassis:
1. Enter the VXT500 or VXT600 cab.
2. Press the brake pedal down and hold.
3. Press the N button (1) on the console.
4. Verify NN (2) is illuminated on the transmission
console digital display.
5. Push PTO 2 rocker switch (3) to OFF position.
6. Push PTO 1 rocker switch (4) to the off position.
Close the red safety guard.
7. Verify PTO light on the dash goes off.
8. Shut engine off. Remove the keys.
9. Exit vehicle.

Identify Rocket Remote Decals for Replacement
For remote units in dealer inventory:
1. Locate all Rocket remotes in inventory.
2. Examine decal on each remote to determine if it is labeled with a white “Vacuum X-Traction”
decal as shown below:

3. If remote has the white decal shown above, proceed to Rocket Remote Decal
Replacement.
4. If decal on remote is black with a “Vermeer” logo (see figure 4), then no action is
needed for remote and it can be put back into inventory.

For remote units on machines:
1. Locate remote on machine and determine if it is a bellypack or Rocket remote.
2. If remote is a Rocket remote, proceed to step 3. If remote is a bellypack, no action is
needed.
3. Examine the decal and identify if the decal on the remote is labeled with a white “Vacuum
X-Traction” decal as shown below:

4. If remote has white decal shown above, proceed to Rocket Remote Decal Replacement.
5. If decal on the remote is black with a “Vermeer” logo (see Figure 4) , no action is needed
on this remote.

Rocket Remote Decal Replacement

1. Peel the old decal off.

2. Remove all mud and glue left on the remote.
a. Do not use solvents, alcohols, acids, or degreasers to remove the glue.
b. Warm water, dish soap, and a washcloth can be used to remove adhesive.

ATTENTION!
Never use high-pressure to clean the transmitter or receiver. This will damage or shorten the life span of the
product.
Never use acids, alcohol, or thinner when cleaning the transmitter or receiver. Those products dry up gaskets,
significantly reducing its capability to prevent water/moist ingress.

3. Once the remote is dry, apply the new decal.
Note: All remotes will be replaced without a screen cutout, including if a cutout was on
the original decal.
4. Do not crease the decal.
5. Verify that no button sticks or catches under the decal when pressed,
