Park the vehicle on an even surface with the transmission on neutral.
Apply the parking brake and set the master control switch to the stop position.
Set the battery disconnect switch in the battery compartment to the off position.
Inside the vehicle, lift the mid section of the rear cross seat and remove the engine access panel (Figure 1).

Locate the N93547 fire suppression pipe and the N101828-01 alternator positive cable (Figure 2).

Inspect the orientation of the N93547 pipe, check if it is installed backwards, compare with the Figure 3 which
shows a correctly installed pipe.
If the pipe is installed backwards, inspect the pipe for any signs of wear due to rubbing with electrical cables.
Refer to the Figure 4 to identify the section of the pipe to inspect.

Inspect the N101828-01 alternator positive cable for any signs of friction or damage (wear, tear, etc.) due to
rubbing with a pipe. Refer to the Figure 4 to identify the section of the cable to inspect.

INSPECTION RESULTS
1.9.
According to the inspection results, perform EACH required step listed below:
•
If the pipe is installed backwards, carry out the Level 2 procedure: REORIENT N93547 FIRE
SUPPRESSION PIPE at pages 6 and 7.
•
If the pipe shows signs of wear due to friction with an electrical cable, carry out the Level 2 procedure:
REPLACE N93547 FIRE SUPPRESSION PIPE at pages 6 and 7.
•
If the electrical cable N101828-01 shows signs of wear due to friction with the fire suppression pipe N94547
and only the outer jacket is damaged and the inner wires are not visible, carry out the Level 3 procedure:
REPAIR N101828-01 POSITIVE ALTERNATOR CABLE at pages 8 and 9.
•
If the electrical cable shows signs of wear and the inner wires are visible, carry out the Level 3 procedure:
REPLACE N101828-01 POSITIVE ALTERNATOR CABLE at pages 8 and 9.
•
If the pipe orientation is correct and the electrical cable shows no signs of wear, finalize work with Level 1
procedure: CLOSING at page 9.

DISABLE THE FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM (before maintenance)

Open the tunnel access door above the rear cross seat.
To disable the Amerex Fire Suppression System, for each extinguisher, disconnect the yellow tagged cable
coming from the tank actuator and connect an Amerex Fire Alarm Test Module (Amerex p/n: 21447 or 27201)
(Figure 5). Note: one Fire Alarm Test Module is needed per extinguisher.
The Amerex Overhead Operator Display panel should show that the system is OK (Figure 6).
Press and release the Push to Reset button on each Fire Alarm Test Module. The Fire Suppression System is
now disabled and maintenance can be done. Proceed with the repair or replacement procedure at page 7.
Note: all Fire Alarm Test Modules must stay connected during maintenance.
ENABLE THE FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM (after maintenance)

ONLY when the maintenance on the fire suppression system is completed, the Amerex Fire Suppression
system can be enabled. Disconnect both Amerex Fire Alarm Test Module from the extinguisher yellow tagged
pigtail. Reconnect each pigtail to the vehicle harness. Secure cables with cable ties as needed.
Close the tunnel access door.
Continue with the next procedure to be performed or finalize with the CLOSING procedureat page 9.

REORIENTE N93547 FIRE SUPPRESSION PIPE

Make sure to enable the fire suppression system prior to any maintenance (Page 6).
2.9.
Remove the existing fire suppression pipe N93547.
2.10.

Reinstall the pipe correctly (Figures 3 and 7). Torque each end of the pipe and apply torque seal.
The fire suppression system can now be enabled (Page 6).

Make sure to enable the fire suppression system prior to any maintanance (Page 6).
Remove the existing fire suppression pipe N93547. Discard.
Install the new N93547 fire suppression pipe (Figures 3 and 7). Torque each end of the pipe and apply torque
seal.

The fire suppression system can now be enabled (Page 6).

Make sure the battery disconnect switch is in the off position in the battery compartment.
WARNING: wait 10 minutes after the battery disconnect switch bas been placed in the off position. This will
maintain the electronic circuit's discharge path and protect the engine's electronic control module (ECM).
Disconnect all cables from the positive terminal of the batteries.

Cut 2 lengths of heat shrink tubing N27548-17, long enough to cover the damaged section of cable, plus an
extra inch for each end.
Disconnect the alternator positive cable N101828-01 at the alternator and free the cable from the split block.
Keep all hardware for later reinstallation.

Insert first piece of heat shrink tubing onto the cable. Position over the damaged section and heat the tubing.
Install a second layer of tubing by doing the same thing with the second piece of tubing.
Reinstall the cable in the split block (Figure 8). Torque and apply torque seal.
Connect the cable to the alternator postive terminal of the alternator. Install hardware, torque (Figure 8) and
apply torque seal.

Apply NCP2 - Battery Corrosion Preventative like N67314 on cable and alternator terminals.
Use a multimeter (in manual mode, in Ω) to make sure that there is no continuity (O.L.) between the positive
cable and the chassis.
Connect all negative cables to the batteries and torque at 13 lb-ft (17 N•m).
Connect all positive cables to the batteries and torque at 13 lb-ft (17 N•m).

Continue with the next procedure to be performed or finalize with the CLOSING procedure at page 9.

all hardware for later reinstallation. Discard the cable.

Connect the new N101828-01 cable to both end and install in split blocks. Use the removed hardware. Torque
(Figure 8) and apply torque seal.
Apply NCP2 - Battery Corrosion Preventative like N67314 on cable and alternator terminals.
Use a multimeter (in manual mode, in Ω) to make sure that there is no continuity (O.L.) between the positive
cable and the chassis.
Connect all negative cables to the batteries and torque at 13 lb-ft (17 N•m).
