SITUATION
A squeaking sound is heard when folding either of the exterior mirrors assemblies in or out.
Note: Please see attached video V51 02 24.

CAUSE
Unfavorable tolerance positions within the exterior mirror assembly.

CORRECTION
Clean and lubricate the sliding surface of the exterior mirror assembly.

PROCEDURE
1. Verify that the customer’s vehicle has this issue.
2. Manually fold the exterior mirror assembly inwards (see photo 1 in the attachment).
3. Clean the sliding surface on the exterior mirror assembly and apply PF1 lubricant (see photo 2 in the attachment)
4. Manually fold the exterior mirror assembly outwards (see photo 3 in the attachment).
5. Clean the sliding surface on the exterior mirror assembly and apply PFI lubricant (see photo 4 in the attachment).
6. If the sound is still present, replace the affected exterior mirror assembly.
