SS 3141-FTL M2 Plus /eM2 Accelerator Pedal
Contacting Lower Dash Cover Making a Clicking
Sound 
Applicable Vehicles
This solution only applies M2 Plus /eM2 vehicles.

Symptoms
When depressing the accelerator pedal, drivers may notice a clicking sound as the pedal contacts
the lower dash cover. Also, a visible contact mark may be seen on the lower dash cover where the
pedal contacts the panel.

Issue
If the lower dash cover is not installed in its correct position, the cover can deform or be pushed out
of its normal position, resulting in the cover contacting the accelerator pedal.

Solution
If encountering a complaint of clicking noise when depressing the accelerator pedal or noticing a
contact mark on the lower dash cover at the accelerator pedal area (See Figure 1), then this solution
provides guidance on steps that can be taken that will allow the lower dash cover to be positioned
in its correct location, eliminating contact with the lower dash cover.

Guidance for correcting accelerator pedal to lower dash interference.
1. Remove the lower dash cover. If needing information on how to remove the cover reference
section 60.08.100 of the M2 Plus workshop manual. At the accelerator pedal area, pull the
floor covering back to gain access to the foam insulation on the bottom side of the floor
covering. Remove the foam from the floor cover around the throttle area, so that when
reinstalled, only the floor covering should slide under the lower dash cover (see figure 2).

1. Once the insulation is removed from the floor covering, reinstall the floor covering. Position
the lower dash cover back into its mounting position. One of the lower dash cover mounting
screws fastens to the top of the accelerator pedal mount. An L-bracket P/N 22-81524-000
should be installed on top of the lower dash cover to help guide the cover into its correct
mounting location (see L-bracket location Figure 3).

1. Check for clearance between the lower dash cover and the accelerator pedal. The pedal
should no longer contact the lower dash cover. If no contact is present, the dash can be
reassembled, and the repair is complete.
Note: There may be some vehicles where performing the corrections listed above still does not
provide enough clearance between the dash cover and the accelerator pedal. If encountering this
condition, use the following added information to obtain additional clearance.
To obtain additional clearance, remove the lower dash cover and check for any interference
between air lines and the lower cover. Air line bundling can vary depending on options installed.

Once all of the air line routing is installed per the installation revisions. Reinstall all of the dash
covers repeating steps 2 and 3 listed above.
