POSSIBLE CAUSE
The rubber in the right or left lower control arm bushing is contacting the front subframe.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the lower control arm.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Using a ChasisEar, make sure the noise is coming form the lower control arm bushing. Isolate the noise to either the left,
right, or both control arms, then replace the affected parts.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
NOTE: The images in this repair procedure show the left side of this vehicle. Repair to the right side will be done the same
way.
1. Removes the front wheel.
2. Remove the engine under cover. Refer to the service information.
3. On AWD models, remove the rear engine under cover. Refer to the service information.
4. Remove the stabilizer bar bushing holder.
5. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the stabilizer bar.
6. Disconnect the front driveshaft outboard joint. Refer to the service information.

7. Move the stabilizer bar upwards to gain access to the lower control arm bolt.
8. Replace the lower control arm.
NOTE: Loosely install the bushing bolts, then tighten them to the specified torque with the suspension loaded with the
vehicle’s weight.
Tighten the front lower ball joint nuts in the sequence as shown:
9. Install all of the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal, then torque all of the fasteners to specification. Refer to
the service information.
10. Do an alignment check, and make adjustments as needed.
11. Do the VSA Neutral Position Memorization procedure. Refer to the service information.
12. Make sure the noise from the lower control arm is gone.
