DESCRIPTION:
In the event of complete high-voltage battery replacement, the battery being installed may not have
the same cell chemistry as the battery being removed.
The replacement battery will always have the same or higher capacity compared to the original
battery.
To be able to use another cell chemistry you need to download a unique SP (Software Product).
This TJ will guide you on which SP to use in the event of high-voltage battery replacement where the
battery is replaced with new cell chemistry and also explains the sequence for downloading the SP
and update software.
Please follow the instructions under “Service.”

SERVICE:
*When a new battery is installed and the cell chemistry is different a unique SP is necessary, see
attachment “TJ_36418_1.pdf.”
The SP changes the Variant Attribute in the vehicle to match that of the replacement battery.
The information of what battery is installed in the vehicle could be found in VIDA, Vehicle details,
Variant Attribute, and search for VDN code CKxx. The part number label is placed on the rear left side
of the HV battery.
Use the following sequence when installing the SP, BECM reload, and software upgrade.
1. Software product to change from one CK to another. See attachment “TJ_36418_1.pdf.”
2. Perform BECM reload
3. Perform a total upgrade
If the wrong SP is used, the car will not start after the battery replacement.
