Customer states:
• There is a droning/vibrating noise from the right half of the vehicle (sometimes in the dash panel area, B pillar
or rear).
Workshop findings:
• The fuel/EVAP lines in the longitudinal member start to vibrate in certain operating situations and this creates
the noise.

Technical Background
Due to pressure pulsation from the high-pressure pump on engine side the underfloor line in the underbody tunnel
vibrates. This vibration causes noise that can also be heard in the vehicle interior.

2. Install closed-cell foam (foam that doesn’t soak up water) part number 321 201 299 on the fuel and EVAP line
tunnel or fill the space around the fuel and EVAP lines. The fuel/EVAP line does not have to be removed. If
this does not work, then install a toothed lock washer 06A 141 730 A.

3. Reinstall the underbody cover.
4. Please use a felt piece 4B0 857 579. Attach it to the fuel tank as shown in the image below (Figure 2).
