With RPO DZW - DUAL REAR WHEEL
Some customers may comment on an ABS / Brake / Traction Control / Stabilitrak /
SES MIL. When checking for DTCs there may be a rear Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS)
DTC set for either the left or right side: example C0511, C0510, C0516, and/or
C0517.
The cause of this concern could be a rear axle shaft with excessive runout. The
excessive runout causes the air gap between the rear WSS and tone ring to increase
and decrease as it turns.
Correction:
If a repair has not been found after performing SI diagnostics, then perform the following to help determine if
excessive runout of the axle shaft is the cause. Use the parts catalog to determine if the rear axle shafts (item 1
shown below) are the same part number for both the left and right sides. If the part numbers are the same for
both sides, then swap the axle shafts from left to right and see if the DTC follows the axle shaft. If so, then
replace that axle shaft.
