Refer to the included letter for the items covered under the Altec Warranty Policy. If you had this repair performed
before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this letter.
Compare your unit’s identifying information with the provided list to verify your unit is affected. You may also
contact Altec or view your fleet through Altec Connect to determine if there are any other outstanding notices.
If you have sold or retired the unit, update the records through Altec Connect. If you have leased this equipment
to another person or company, you are required by Federal Law to forward a copy of this notice to the lessee by
first class mail within ten (10) days of the receipt of this notice.

Service Information Letter SIL- 3117-A
Outrigger Feeder Tube Interference
Units Affected: Certain LS63 and LS87 units built from September 2021 to February 2023. Verify your
unit is affected by reviewing the attached list or accessing Altec Connect.
Background: Altec has learned that there is insufficient clearance between the outrigger leg(s) and
feeder tube(s) on the affected units which can cause outrigger interference. This can affect the outrigger's
ability to retract and can cause hydraulic leaks.
Customer Action: Inspect the unit's outriggers according to the Inspection Procedure beginning on
page 2. Depending on the results of the inspection, order and install the Outrigger Feeder Tube Interference Kit, part number 991678628, or schedule the installation of this kit by Altec. Multiple kits may need
to be ordered depending on the number of outriggers requiring repair. Complete this installation by the
next preventive maintenance interval or within 6 months of receipt of this notice, whichever comes first.
Warranty for this repair expires February 2, 2026.
Subsequent damage due to failure to perform the required action(s) in the time period allowed will not be
covered by warranty.
Requirements: The inspection is estimated to take 1 hour and 1 person to complete. The repair is estimated to take 9.5 hours and 1 person to complete. An automotive lift or equivalent rated for 18.5 tons, an
overhead hoist or equivalent rated for at least 70 pounds, and a pneumatic jack or equivalent lift rated for
75 pounds are required for the installation of this kit.
Completion and Warranty: This repair is covered by the Altec Warranty Policy and can be performed
by Altec, the customer, or the customer's warranty provider. Altec will perform the work for free at an
Altec facility. If the customer or the customer's warranty provider perform the work, a warranty claim
must be submitted to be reimbursed for the cost of the parts and/or labor. Altec will allow up to $90.00 for
the labor to perform the inspection and up to $855.00 for the labor to perform the repair. An Altec Mobile
Technician is not able to perform this repair.

Inspection Procedure: Normal mechanic’s hand tools, a socket wrench with a 7/16" socket, and a flashlight are required for this inspection. Read and understand all steps of the instructions before beginning
the procedure.
1. Position the unit on a level surface, apply the parking brake, engage the power take-off (PTO), and
chock the wheels. Fully deploy the 4 out and down outriggers horizontally and extend the vertical
leg outriggers approximately 4" until the vertical outrigger cylinder covers can be accessed (refer to
Figure 1). Disengage the PTO, and turn off the engine. Remove the key from the ignition, and secure
it following your employer’s vehicle lockout/tagout procedure.
2. Remove the vertical outrigger cylinder covers from each of the 4 vertical outriggers (refer to Figure 1).

3. Locate the serial numbers at the top of the outriggers and determine if the numbers begin with 589
(refer to Figure 2). Record the results of the inspection for all 4 outriggers in Figure 3.

4. Review the inspection results from step 3.
• If 1 or more boxes are checked Yes, repair is required. Proceed to step 5.
• If all boxes are checked No, no repair is required. Proceed to step 6.

5. Repair is required. Replace the vertical outrigger cylinder covers and perform steps a through e.
a. Determine the total number of kits required by adding the number of Yes boxes checked in Figure 3.
Each outrigger needing repair will require a separate kit. Retain the inspection results from Figure
3 in preparation for the kit(s) installation.
b. Arrange for the installation of the required kit(s) using one of the methods below.
• Contact Altec Service to schedule the installation of the kit.
• Contact Altec Parts to order the kit(s), and schedule for your own technician or your third party
provider to install the kit(s).
c. Install the kit upon receipt.
d. Put the unit back into service.
e. Do not complete the Inspection Sheet at the end of this notice. Completion of the notice will be
documented after the vehicle is repaired.
6. No repair is required. Replace the outrigger covers and perform steps a through d below.
a. Put the unit back into service.
b. Complete the Inspection Sheet at the end of this notice, and return it to Altec.
c. If the inspection was performed by Altec, mark this notice as complete on the Service Request.
d. Do not complete the remaining step in this notice.
